Who Ruined Christmas for Toussie? |
Controversy is still raging over whether or not George W. Bush was constitutionally justified in revoking a pardon for Isaac Toussie who is in jail for mail fraud and lying to investigators. Mr. Toussie was 1 out of 19 pardoned. While it is customary to choose criminals who deserve special attention compared to the more blasé middle and lower class criminals, it is also unprecedented in executive history to then revoke freedom. Especially on Christmas.
But this may not be Mr. Bush's fault. The flip-flop to the pardon was said to be due to new information which had come to light. I find it quite plausible that an intelligence failure and premature action are to blame. Bush made decisions on neither of those without Cheney's hand stuck up his ass, correlating a periodically inflated colon to the babble flowing from Bush's mouth. Cheney is able to do this while drinking a glass of water.
So by default, we'll assume that the shrewder and more evil policies came from Cheney. It would explain why he defended waterboarding on prime time television. Or was it Karl Rove? We may as well throw a literary brick or two through his window for good measure. He is the prime suspect for the pardon being revoked. The "new information" that came to light was that Isaac Toussie's father previously donated tens of thousands of dollars. This "Rovean" style of random vetting has become a trend in mind of Karl Rove. Like most political campaign geniuses, Rove vetted presidential pardons without considering if there were connections between the criminal and the Republican party. This kind of political and social brilliance also chose to pardon man convicted of killing bald eagles.
Christmas is a time of joy where we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ by trampling over each other in a Wal-mart riot and decorating fir trees with colored light bulbs and glass globes. Some groups use a special branch above each other's heads as a means of enforcing physical. Considering Jesus was a carpenter, perhaps the tree represents a "before/after" picture of the crucifix. Either way, with Roussie won't be enjoying Christmas, New Years, or Hug a Republicans Day (January 20th).
