Forgetting Judd Apatow |
Ok, so your movies are about guys who bash women in order to dissipate the insecurity and self-loathing associated with being chubby and unpopular in high school. I've accepted this. Must be a market for it, or something.
To paraphrase Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., the best ideas truly rise to the top in a free democracy. So Forgetting Sarah Marshall must be up there somewhere, perhaps between Ulysses and Leaves of Grass.
But this fake PSA about sexual harassment displays your underlying feelings towards women more than any sophomoric buddy flick laced with anxious anti-female slurs and expressions of threatened masculinity ever could.
I suppose that in Apatowland, women--the ones who aren't busy carrying their unplanned pregnancies to term and abrasively nagging their husbands--like getting sexually harassed in the workplace? Isn't that funny?
It's about as funny as if someone you worked with--say, Jonah Hill--shoved your face in his lap and put his doughy fingers down your pants during the filming of Superbad. Or would that "make you feel good"?
In other words, SEXISM SUCKS, HOLLYWOOD.
