Rick Warren Likens Gays To Pizza |
In an interview with Ann Curry on NBC's Dateline, Evangelist Preacher, Rick Warren, who is set to deliver the invocation at Barack Obama's inauguration, equated gays getting married to eating pizza everyday.
"Mr. Warren's relating gays to pedophiles, incest and gay marriage to his incessant craving of sex with women he was not married to caught me a little off guard.," said Ms Curry, "But after the camera stopped filming he went on to make the comparison of gays to pizza, I must say, I was startled."
"Just because I like pizza it doesn't mean I should marry it," said Warren. "Biologically, I am predisposed to enjoy the immaculate melding of mozzarella cheese, red sauce and thick crust baked to tasty perfection. But that doesn't mean I should enter into a lifelong commitment with Sicilian or plain, nor bed it down, nor bring children into the world and have them have to explain to their classmates why their mom's crust is not a crisp as it once was. Does any child deserve to have their friends tossing Monday 2 for 1 coupons in his face? Not in my world they don't. Yet, to say that I am against pizza-eaters or gays is absurd. Our Saddleback Church offer more weight-watchers meetings to overeaters than any other evangelical megachurch on the west coast."
Elsewhere, with claims that "We did it with 'under God' in the Pledge of Allegiance," supporters of California's Proposition 8, the bill to amend the California constitution to make "marriage" a union only between a man and a woman, are proposing an amendment to the original Declaration of Independence that inserts the words, "except for gays" wherever needed to stop gays from using the DOI as a tool to attack Prop 8.
The new proposed Declaration would read, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men, except for gays, are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness, except for gays. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, except for gays, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People, except for gays, to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness, except for gays."
"This should put to rest the objections surrounding the historical precedents from any real Americans," said Focus on the Family leader, Dr. James Dobson. "Of course, except for the gays."
