Cubans find immigration route through Mexico is safer, has better chalupas
Cuban immigrants are bringing their delicious sandwiches and infectious rhythms to the United States in the greatest numbers in over a decade, and they're doing it in a completely new way: through Mexico. While aggressive Coast Guard efforts have reduced the number of Cubans landing on Florida, those who can still reach U.S. soil are able to legally become permanent residents, making the longer route via Mexico preferable.
