Richard Roberts, the son of televangelist Oral Roberts and ex-president of Oral Roberts University, said last week he didn't want to resign as head of the scandal-plagued Oklahoma Christian school, but did only because God insisted. In October, former ORU professors filed a lawsuit claiming they were fired after filing an report alleging Roberts' family used university money for extravagant personal expenses. Richard Roberts stepped down last Friday, after Iowa senator Chuck Grassley announced this week he's launching an investigation into whether six celebrity preachers violated tax-exemption laws by living lavishly on the backs of small donors.
