Real ID to prevent terrorism ten years from now
The Department of Homeland Security recently announced that they are delaying the date the new nationwide standards for driver's licenses, known as Real ID, will take effect. While the federal government maintains that the new standards are necessary to prevent terrorists from boarding airplanes or taking out library books, civil libertarians and conspiracy theorists are up in arms at the prospect of a national ID card. Are the new security features really that bad? 23/6 takes a closer look.

- For security purposes, REAL ID cards are valid for only 6 hours
- Biometric data: thumbprint, retinal scan and nasal scan
- Voice chip announces "I am a real identification card" if card is genuine and "I am a counterfeit card" if card is fake
- Requisite four (4) American flags to comply with Patriot Act Title 50 Section 8
- Barcode contains citizen tracking number and price information for 12-pack of microwavable Beefaroni bowls
- Body heat activated patch that turns from blue to red if person holding it is a terrorist
