23/6 StrikeWatch: our continuing uninformed coverage

23/6 continues to stand behind its own storied reputation for being your second choice for WGA strike news with this latest round of updates.

LATEST: DGA Negotiator Gil Cates Seals Deal By Offering Up Niece Phoebe
While all of Hollywood begins deciphering the ins and outs of the deal struck between the Director's Guild of America and the AMPTP, it's been learned that the wheels were greased by the promise of one soaking-wet Phoebe Cates.

Gil Cates, the uncle of the actress, is the head of the DGA's negotiating committee, and he sealed the deal yesterday by promising the AMPTP's Nick Counter an hour-long pool party with the star of "Fast Times At Ridgemont High."

"We were stuck on the downloads issue, and I saw Mr. Counter searching the web, to find out what a 'download' was," said Cates. "He stumbled upon some screen shots of my niece, from the infamous "Fast Times" pool scene, and he began to ask if anyone knew where he could get a free copy of the movie online. I told him 'Forget the download--I can get you the real deal!'"

Counter and company then put pen to paper, with Cates pledging that once the deal was signed, the 60-something president of the producers' alliance would be allowed to observe Ms. Cates emerging from a swimming pool while wearing a red bikini. Counter praised the DGA for it's willingness to allow such "free mental downloads."

When reached for comment, the actress, who lives in New York with husband Kevin Kline and their three children, said "WHAT?!!"

WGA President Patric Verrone, formerly a writer on "Futurama," is looking forward to renewing negotiations, and has promised Counter that an afternoon alone with a Turanga Leela mannequin is "not out of the question."
