Air Force officials fired over bad nuke etiquette
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. T. Michael Moseley and Secretary Michael W. Wynne were ousted on Thursday over what are being referred to as "nuclear gaffes," (not to be confused with an "atomic faux pas") in which nuclear weapons were "mishandled." What sort of "mishandling" got these two top Air Force officials booted?
- Gen. Moseley's number one pickup line at the officer's club: "Wanna come up to the war room and play with The Button?"
- Secretary Michael Wynne trying to boost office morale with "Plutonarita Fridays"
- Moseley bringing nukes home over the weekend without signing the signout sheet
- Several occasions last July when Secretary Wynne commandeered a B-52 bomber armed with nuclear tipped missiles for "a lift up to the Cape."
- Moseley accused by officials of being "drunk with power." Wynne accused by wife of being "drunk with Bushmills."
- Staff security training reduced to everyone crowding into the break room once a month to re-watch "WarGames."
