Wanted: Swift-Boat Captain
Barack Obama told supporters he was opting out of public financing because John McCain won't prevent third-party 527 groups from spending millions in unlimited donations to launch swift-boat style attacks against Obama.
The thing is, we're only five months away from election day and there are so far no such groups in existence, neither are there any shadowy figures volunteering to get the smear-ball rolling. Republicans are keeping their fingers crossed that some 527's will be launched soon enough. But according to Politico, no one knows "who will run it, who will pay for it, what shape it will eventually take or when such a group may form."
Sounds like they're getting pretty desperate to find someone who'll take on this formidable task. We decided to help the GOP get the word out, so we put something together for them on the D.C. Craigslist. Hope it sends some nice candidates their way:
