23/6 outrage guide to the July 21 New Yorker cover

Monday was a day for liberal outrage (okay, yes, that's every day, but Monday more than usual) over the July 21, 2008, cover of The New Yorker magazine, which features an illustration of Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, fist-bumping in the Oval Office. That alone might not cause such a stir, but critics have found fault with some of the other details in the illustration. Can you identify the offensive elements? WARNING: Content may disturb true patriots.

Roll your mouse over the squares to learn exactly why this cover has caused so much controversy.

How much is enough? This cartoon digs up some old wounds. I tried to think about the humor with an open mind but to no avail. Didn't we in America suffer long enough a few years back to be reminded once again who could be wearing the pants in the Oval Office?
