   Thought Process Flowchart: Ted Stevens

"And I would've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids."

Alaska's hypersenior U.S. senator, Republican Ted Stevens, has pled not guilty on charges he lied about receiving $250,000 in gifts from oil contractors, including the remodeling of his home. The apoplectic technophile has already asked for and received a speedy September trial date, and he's delighted. Stevens is hoping to clear his name before the election and avoid bringing his six-decade-long public service career to an even more shameful conclusion.

But the FBI says it has proof galore in its case against Stevens. So, as ever, we imagine the inner workings of the Last Frontier's indignant, backroom-dealing elder statesman and ask: What was he thinking?

I think that Stevens criminal behavior has been going on for about ten years. I think that the statute of limitations may have limited the bribery charges, but not filing the disclosure statement is important.

I really think, with all due respect to our seasoned citizens, that Mr. Stevens mental abilities and judgment are not functioning very well due to old age.

When does this 23/6 material get funny? We've been waiting a while now ... your grace period is almost over and we've seen no humor yet.

Here's a unique idea -- let's, somehow, remove all the psychopaths from office, especially those with senile dementia :)) And, let's replace them with persons who have at least some level of heart, consciousness, and compassion. Perhaps politics, one day, will attract, in great numbers, persons who are actually not selfish, greedy, ego ridden, power mad and clueless. Could happen !!
