Election 2008

Obama stumbles into a party and asks, "Where the white women at?"

Sarah looks just like me, y'all! And I should be president!

For reasons that this white woman cannot comprehend, John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin has resulted in a 53% to 37% lead for the GOP team among white female voters. Even more appalling, Newsweek reports that one in three white women is more likely to vote for McCain because he chose Palin as a running mate.

A scholar for the Center for American Women and Politics explains, "It's about how much Democrats can maximize the gender difference and how much the Republicans can hold it down."

Thank the good Lord that the new, aggressive Obama/Biden campaign released a new series of campaign posters to remind American women why they should vote Democrat:

I have to believe the 2 things that are making white women angry towards Obama are (1) of course, Hillary being by-passed for the VP spot, but (2) the fact Obama pays his women staff LESS then he pays his male employees. He has only 7 women among his top 20 staffers and pays them 83 cents for each dollar the man makes. Thats not right ! McCain, to his credit, has 13 lady staffers among his top 20 and actually pays them $1.04 for each dollar the male staffer makes.

I'm all for women making the same money as men for the same job, but are you comparing apples to oranges? Are you saying Patti Solis Doyle should be making the same money as David Axelrod?

The first segment about abortion information - "Someone get this message to Bristol" is exceptionally tacky.
I like or love 98% of the stuff at 23/6, and I know that all edgy commedy will occasionally step over the line.
I think that one steps over the line into the cruel and stupid.
The rest of it is pretty good.

What is scary to know, is somewhere, there is a moron guy that will vote for McCain simply because "he wants to do Palin".

Anyone ever seen the movie "Idocracy"?

We are SO headed there soon. lol.

You do a disservice to the citizens of "Idiocracy". Eventually they elected the smartest man in the world as president. Here, we still vote for Republicans.

"White Men for Obama? Is that allowed?"
To be honest, I'm not combative. If "noseriouslythough" had gutted my comment or I had the slightest idea what the "brand new day" or "banjo" comment refer to, I might get angry.

He just called an anecdote and some comments "dumb." I'm not sure if he belongs to the category of people who deny the existence of racism or he thinks it is so obvious that it is beyond mention. I think, despite good intentions, most people are racist. Issues might be surveyed about and people may use them as excuses, but gut feelings/instincts are far more important. But again, I'm not sure what he thinks is so dumb. Maybe he thinks people crashed over the damn to McCain after Palin joined just because she is a charismatic and exceptional woman. Or, maybe he just means I'm a babe in the big bad woods of kill or be killed flamethrower political commentary.

I don't go on these boards much... well, mostly because politics burns me out and like most upper white trash, I work and I sleep and don't have time for it. Later. It is good to know someone actually read my comment without prejudice. :)

What I want to know is how they are getting these stats and from what demographic of "white women". I happen to be white and have a few friends and family members who are "white women" and I think we missed the meeting or something cuz we all still think McCain is a dinosaur and Palin is a blow-up doll.

Just sharing something with you: someone in my family (an in-law who has always voted democratic unlike most others in my family) has decided to vote for McCain because "I really like Sarah Palin." This is a code phrase: it means, I won't vote for a a black man. Although this family member is a man, I think there a lot of people of both genders who focus on Sarah Palin (as a symbol of something NEW (but homespun)) because they don't really like the idea of a black man as "their leader." (The potential first ladies are not a factor because Cindy McCain looks like an ice queen and Obama's wife is too too classy, too too educated, and too too colored.)

Obama needs to campaign with Hillary and other strong white women. He can't mention the racism. That would be dumb, I think. The subliminal support, the images of women singing his praises and condemning McCain may tinker with people's unexamined uncertainty about his experience and his race.

A brand new day!

That is the dumbest comment ever posted on the Interwebs, and that's no small feat. Congratulations. Resume banjo playing now.
