GOP activists target liberals' favorite meal (fyi, it's brunch)
The economy's going down the toilet faster than Henry Hill's cocaine stash at the end of "Goodfellas," but fear not, Republicans are still figuring out new ways to make money. How? By peddling racist waffle mix to Focus on the Family members. Tenessee GOP activists Mark Whitlock and Bob DeMoss are claiming that their "Obama Waffles" - which were selling briskly at this weekend's Values Voter Summit until embarrassed organizers shut the booth down - were intended to be "satirical." Because that's what you say when funny goes wrong.
How wrong?
To be honest, the front of the package isn't all that bad. Yes, the Obama cartoon has bug-eyes, thick lips and a frightening smile, but so does Robert Novak. Then you get to the sombrero and the dashiki and the part about facing Mecca and you start wishing that the South would just get it over with and secede.
The "Obama Waffles" creators both describe themselves as writers. DeMoss has written a sex guide for Christian singles and Whitlock has started not one, but two blogs. Which is, frankly, more than we've done this year. Then again, we know how to spell the word "immigration." Unlike some people. Which brings us to our thesis: racist humor should never be attempted by amateurs. This chart shows you why.

P.S. We were unsure where to put Ted Danson in blackface. Somehow, it works for all four quadrants.
