According to Jonathan Martin at Politico, the "cavalry apparently isn't coming" for the McCain camp. It seems that many Republicans were thinking that the only way McCain could win would be that some wealthy guy would bankroll a whole raft of Jeremiah Wright ads. And that, Martin says, isn't going to happen. It's when you're doing so badly that your rich buddy won't even smear your black enemy for you.

Add to that the fact that even Miss Drudge seems to be giving up hope, calling a new Zogby poll a sign of a "landslide," the circular firing squad going on right now at The Corner, and the ugly post-mortem appearing in next weekend's New York Times Magazine.

Clearly, there's not a lot of joy in Mudville right now.

But that's just because they're looking at it the wrong way. Every Muslim socialist terrorist cloud has a silver family values lining. There are plenty of rays of sunshine for the GOP. Here are our 12 Things the GOP Has To Be Happy About:

• Utah still solidly Republican

• Levi has a buddy that's gonna get beer for his wedding.

• No in-fighting among conservative judges for Supreme Court appointments any time soon.

• Cindy is still, knock on wood, clean.

• Neiman Marcus has a generous 60 day return policy.

• In less than two weeks, no one can blame them for jackshit.

• Bristol is too far along to get an abortion.

• The Obama margin looks to be too big to expend all that effort stealing the election.

• Racist birthrate is still very high.

• There are still several Republicans who have not endorsed Barack Obama yet

• Willow's pregnancy will probably be announced soon.

• 2016 just 8 Obama years away!
