Auto workers make less $$$ than right-wing talkers who hate them
The New York Times recently debunked the right-wing fantasy that Detroit auto workers make $73 per hour. Much of that sum is derived not from a worker's salary, but costs associated with pensions, health care and retirees.
And more. Here's our pie chart breakdown of the costs associated with the figure "seventy-three dollars per hour." (Fyi, before GM CEO Rick Waggoner offered to take one dollar per year compensation, his 2008 salary of 2.2 million equaled approximately $1057 per hour.)
