Auto workers make less $$$ than right-wing talkers who hate them

Hey Rush Limbaugh, you can stop jerking off to the thought of this guy's salary.

The New York Times recently debunked the right-wing fantasy that Detroit auto workers make $73 per hour. Much of that sum is derived not from a worker's salary, but costs associated with pensions, health care and retirees.

And more. Here's our pie chart breakdown of the costs associated with the figure "seventy-three dollars per hour." (Fyi, before GM CEO Rick Waggoner offered to take one dollar per year compensation, his 2008 salary of 2.2 million equaled approximately $1057 per hour.)

If all compensation is taken into consideration and it does add up to $73/hour, then that is how much they are making for their time. It is silly to disguise benefits, such as healthcare and pension funds, as non-compensation -- if I am not mistaken, the IRS taxes it under IRC section 132.

I got my job through the NEW YORK TIMES. The pay is lousy. I'll use Monster the next time.

Of course they make less. And of course the GOP right are crying... it's nothing new and it's just wrong... it's a good thing the GOP are a dying breed.
