23/6 Open letter to Hamas

While the Germans (not Arabs) were exterminating the Jews, the Jews were hiding in Palestine. While Europe raged with antisemitism over centuries after centuries, Jews (and Christians) were ambassadors to the Muslim state. Some of the greatest scholars of Baghdad, Andalusia (southern Spain), Sicily, Cairo, etc were Jews. They revived their language and their heritage in Muslim land. Did you know that all the monumental Maimonides' (the greatest Jewish scholar of all times) works were written by him in Arabic and in Arab land?

The problem is the ethnic cleansing and annexation of Palestinians and the over 60 damn years of ILLEGAL OCCUPATION and ever-expanding ILLEGAL SETTLEMENTS.

Quit the ignorance, so some problems can be actually solved!

from the replies below, i can see i'm upsetting a few people who normally come here to read about blagojevich and joe the plumber. i didn't want to get into one of those endless back-and-forth things against a bunch of people who agree with each other.

and yes, i've been stating the obvious so far, but the situation in the middle east has never been complicated. it's just made to seem that way in your country so that no one can criticize israel, even though in israel itself they're more critical of israel.

so, this is not about you being ignorant of politics or history. you're a comedian writing for a comedy website. this isn't about a pro-israel bias that compels you to see things only one-way. this is simply you catering to your readership: left-wing liberals who are either jewish or israel supporters through guilt, and who certainly aren't going to enjoy reading criticism of the only democracy in the middle east, even if it's through comedy.

and that makes you a gutless sellout.

you see, as it says "Comments" at the top of this section, i thought i could comment on the brilliantly subversive material you're serving up these days. perhaps you should change it to "Responses" so i can adjust my postings accordingly.

I like how tornado responds to quotes that aren't in our open letter. Ex:

here's a suggestion to the "236.com staff":

how about you try, for a fleeting moment, to not swallow whole the garbage being fed to you by whoever tried to explain this whole "arab vs. jew" thing to you?

1- "arabs and jews have been fighting for 3000 years. it goes WAAAAYYYY back." how about this: israel was "created" 60 years ago, on land whoe original occupants weren't consulted about the matter and who were kicked out by force. try to start there, and you'll see how simple it all is.

2- "arabs want to throw the jews into the sea" let me blow your mind: arabs, palestinians in particular, want JUSTICE. israel took land that belonged to the palestinians, and white people like you still shit their pants every time this is mentioned because you don't want to be reminded of how you let jews be exterminated and did nothing. arabs had NOTHING to do with your crimes, and all they want is JUSTICE.

try it. it's easier than you might think.
