It's inevitable Norm, just lie back and accept it

I know it was you, Norm. You broke my heart!

It looks like Al Franken is going to be a senator. But probably not for a while, which means that Fox News and the Wall Street can continue to have some fun with "Funny Business" headlines for at least a while more. The Canvassing Board has announced that Franken won, but Norm Coleman has vowed to contest the results in court, which will prevent Franken from getting a certificate of election, which will prevent Franken from being seated.

What are Norm's chances? Not good. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid declared that "Coleman will never ever serve in the Senate [again]. He lost the election. He can stall things, but he'll never serve in the Senate."

Though the margin was close -- 225 votes -- the more shocking thing is that Nate Silver was off in his prediction by 98 votes!

So where, if not to hang out with the boys in the Senate Cloak Room anymore, does Norm go from here? He can go to court, but he's just staving off the inevitable. Right now, it's clear he's angry, but according to the Kubler-Ross Stage of Losing To An Election To Al Franken, he'll eventually be okay...

Denial:

I've won. I'll just go to Washington and they'll seat me. I'm sure it'll go much better for me than it did for the crazy black guy from Illinois.

Anger:

I've lost an election to the guy who wrote "When a Man Loves a Woman."

Bargaining:

Just let me beat him and give me the seat and I promise that in a few years I'll be found in a rest stop on I-35 blowing a guy and that's the last you'll see of ol' Norm.

Depression:

What's the point? Nothing matters. Honey, if anybody calls, which they won't, I'll be at the exit 27 rest stop on I-35.

Acceptance:

Hey, "Fox News Analyst Norm Coleman" ain't so bad!

Relax Norm.

Don't tense up or it'll just hurt more.

Also, don't piss off the large man attached to that penis in your ass or he's gonna knock all your teeth out and...

Actually, Nate Silver was only off by 30-odd votes. His prediction of a Franken lead of 27 votes at the end of the recount was based on ballots being recounted and didn't include improperly rejected absentee ballots, the status of which were in legal doubt. The courts ordered them counted, albeit in an asinine fashion, so Franken's lead swelled from 50 votes to several hundred. In short, don't doubt Nate Silver.
