New Obama speech, "The Economy Sucks," drops at 11 AM
Anticipation is high as President-elect Barack Obama is set to drop another sure-fire hit of a speech this morning, tentatively titled "The Economy Sucks." The speech airs at 11, and Chris Matthews is expected to be sobbing by 11:09.
Obama broke into the speech scene in 2004 with his "There's Not a Whole Bunch of Americas and I'll Give Examples of Which Ones There Aren't" address at that year's Democratic National Convention. He achieved superstar status earlier this year with his speech on racism titled, "Racism...What Are Ya Gonna Do, Am I Right?" That was followed by a string of monster hits, including "Can You Believe I'm the Nominee?" and "I'm the President Now So Relax."
Today's speech will be broken down into several tracks, "I'm Not Gonna Lie, We're Pretty Effed Up," "I'm Not Pointing Fingers But Really I Am," "Working Together," and "I Will Fix Everything Using Magic." While the speech is not expected to reveal new information about the stimulus strategy, Americans across the country are very excited for Obama to make them feel good about stuff for at least most of the afternoon.
