23/6 Op-Ed: It's 12:13 PM, President Obama... where is my job?
Dear Mr. President
You have been commander-in-chief for seven minutes now, and we have one question for you: Where is our job? You promised to provide 3 million jobs and yet here we are, still drunk, unemployed and wearing Saturday night's pajamas. We have used this time to ruminate on your presidency thus far and we are sorry to say that we are deeply disappointed. Since your swearing-in 420 seconds ago, we have witnessed a series of broken campaign promises. Gitmo is still open, wars wage on in both Iraq and Afghanistan and the Dow is well under 12,000. And don't get us started on the new "post-racial" society. At 12:06, when we dashed to the mailbox in hopes of finding a big, fat stimulus check (not there- thanks!), we encountered a black man whom we did not know. Yes, Mr. President, this was the first big test of your presidency. And because we instinctively clutched our empty purse to our breastbone after he asked, "How are you today," you failed. If we aren't comfortable around unvetted an African-American man today, we never will be.
God help us all.
