Amidst the sounds of bombs dropping in the Middle East one can hear sounds of guitar strings. A band of youth occupy the streets where united together take interest in using music as a mean for social change and spirituality. Its groundbreaking groups such as these that we at The Pollination Project provide seed grants to get their work off the ground. This week we recognize seven individuals from East African countries to the United States west coast that are coordinating projects founded in empowering others. Photographs shed insight on underserved communities while students pursuing careers in science and finally given the tools to practice.

Sarah Anthony and Robyn Pottorff, Same Cities Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California, USA. A traveling street project showcases photography that brings insight into historical context and socioeconomic facts of various communities.
Shingisha Hela and Zubeda Ignasi, School Laboratory Equipment to Enhance Science Teaching, Shinyanga, Tanzania. Science labs are equipped with proper equipment, allowing them to tangibly practice their schoolwork.
Nuredeen M. W. Ra'i, Shajar Band - Arroub Camp, Hebron, Palestine. Youth use musical instruments as a tool for social change, entertainment, spirituality and therapy.
R. Mariagracy and Ramya Nancy, Socioeconomic and Health Empowerment of Adolescent Girls, Pudukottai, India. Adolescent girls are trained in vocational skills and kitchen garden activities to increase health and self-autonomy.
Joyce Kebedi Kidanda, Vikabo Women Empowerment Group, Nairobi, Kenya. Women create art, leading to entrepreneurship activities.
Susan Achieng and Peter Gawo, Inua Kike (Women Uprising), Nairobi, Kenya. Women empowered to reach their dreams through entrepreneurship and life skills trainings.
Llano Velasquez Manuel, Hub Rural Platform, Bogota, Colombia. Locally produced crops are distributed to certified organic markets, bringing economic security to farmers.
