According to Vanity Fair, the outfit Cindy McCain wore at the Republican Convention Tuesday night cost a whooping $313,100.
Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000-$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100
I hope she thanked Laura Bush while they were on stage together. According to an analysis by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, the McCains have received $313,413 thanks to George Bush's tax cut.
If John McCain were President, she might have been able to add a bracelet to the ensemble. According to the same study under McCain proposed tax cuts they would have received tax breaks of $367,788.

That's the Republican way of making sure money isn't wasted on the needy.
That's just disgusting that someone can spend THAT MUCH MONEY on a single outfit. I think I spent a total of $25 on my outfit that I'm wearing now. Double that if you include my glasses, which I haven't been able to afford to replace, even though they're no longer correcting my vision.
I was suprised to learn Cindy McCain's dress cost so much!! After all, who knew the McCains could afford to have spent so much money on a dress AFTER donating 26% of their AGI to charity in 2007.
Hey, I say if you got the disposable income, after taking care of your obligations plus going above and beyond ...spend it!!
Btw, the Obama's donated 6.1% of their AGI to charity in 2006 (I could not find 2007's numbers on the web, but I will concede it's probably more than 6.1%)
Remember those charity deductions were also used to purchase Cindy's drugs...Yo u have no clue about all of the expenses that Cindy writes off thru her businesses and charities. .. How about a million dollar party for John Bush's birthday along with that plane that is really really necessary to fly around Arizona... .
It's not the point. The point is that they have received enough tax cuts from bush to have been able to afford the outfit. Since that is additional NET income to them, even after we account for the AGI......

Ari--that is so fabulous I could cry. Whether I'm crying from joy or frustration--we'll find out November 4.
