Bin Laden Slams Dems, Praises Chomsky, and Promises Lower Taxes

George Bush vowed to capture Osama bin Laden - dead or alive. But then he turned his attention to the real object of his desire, Iraq, leaving the perpetrator of 9/11 on the loose, free to offer kudos to Noam Chomsky and Michael Scheuer's Imperial Hubris, and to fret over global warming and U.S. mortgage rates. And, by the look of things, free to stock up on Grecian Formula.

Wherever bin Laden is, they apparently have CSPAN. In his latest tape, he seems very up on U.S. politics, castigating Democrats for failing to fight hard enough to end the war. "You elected the Democratic Party for this purpose," he says to U.S. voters, "but the Democrats haven't made a move worth mentioning. On the contrary, they continue to agree to the spending of tens of billions to continue the killing and war there."

America's Most Wanted Terrorist also appears to have studied the GOP playbook on attracting converts. "I invite you to embrace Islam," he says at the end of his new diatribe. "There are no taxes in Islam, but rather there is a limited Zakaat [alms] totaling 2.5 percent."

Read his lips: very low taxes! Pandering for support just the way George Bush would have drawn it up.

I am not someone who easily buys conspiracy theories so just hear me out. There is something strange about that latest so-called bin Laden video.

First of all, is that person really Bin Laden? The beard does not look anything like bin Laden's beard. Reports say either it is fake, or it has been died and trimmed. Either action is questionable according to Islamic Law. Furthermore, the BBC reports he looks younger than in his last video from 2004.

Whoever it is on that video, he says everything the administration would want him to say. He sounds like he is in cahoots with the Democrats.

Would it be beyond the limits of Karl Rove to publish a fake Bin Laden video? Seems no more far fetched than planting a bug in his office ... and then telling the press that he found a bug that someone else planted.

Would it be beyond the limits of Dick Cheney to force CIA analysts to say that recording was genuine? Seems no more far fetched than forcing the CIA to say that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

Am I the only one who smells a rat?

Few here doubt that corporatism is a problem in modern America. Those Dems we put into office have not done that which we voted for them to do. Republicans will always listen to anyone who says that they are overtaxed.

Have we become so paranoid that we can no longer accept statements at face value? I find Osama's actions loathsome, but this does not blind me to the loathsome actions of our own leaders. Maybe he really is sickened by the wholesale slaughter of innocent Muslims, as are the Democrats he appears interested in talking to.

Perhaps he can see beyond Iraq's recruiting successes to the P.R. nightmare of crazies killing Muslims in his organizations's name. Perhaps, by pointing out a series of truths, he thinks he can help to end the slaughter before it backfires on his own interests? Especially insofar as his attacks have only served to feed the very imperialism that he sought to discourage.

The fact that he has supplied Republicans with talking points does not necesarily mean that he supports their actions. Indeed, Republicans manufacture talking points, turn straw into gold, anyway. Republicans don't actually need Osama to smear anyone, he was just handy in this instance. Evidence to me of naivete, not Rovian spin.

So OBL has given us his annual State of the Union address. And suddenly he's the foremost authority on American socio-politics.

He must also be publicity whoring for his new book, "Talking Heads or Terrorists: Who Is More Dangerous?"

Nothing about OBL's gloating is funny. It's like he committed murder, went to the victim's funeral, and poked the victim's closest relative in the eye.

The CIA and FBI should take note of what OBL says on the tape for security purposes.

Everyone else should just ignore him.

So who are the Conspiracy theorists again? Osama should receive a grammy for the timeliness of the release of his videos to assist the Bush Administration. Congress set the stage for all of this when they demanded Iraq update in September.

The goal of our enemy is to bankrupt the USA.

Just like the mortgage crisis of buyers going bankrupt because they borrowed more than they could afford.

Is the USA borrowing more than we can afford to fund the Iraq war.

Think about it. There is no end to the amount we are borrowing to fund this war. Oviously, we are spending more than we are collecting.

Everyone agrees our troops are being worn down
by repeated extentions of duty in Iraq. Yet, the Republicans and their military extensions are predicting several years more of the same.

This all can't be just for the oil. With the kind of money the war is costing, we could replace oil consumption with a going to the moon effort through technology. No, it's
simply for the money. And it's being charged
mostly with our China Credit.

What a wonderful future we have because of the Republicans. They support the President right or wrong. Now with support the troops Democrats.

"MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" said it all. We are great, we are powerful, we are rich, and if you don't like it we will KICK YOUR ASS!

I think Bin Laden's message was a step in theologically supporting his plans. According to the Hadith, there is a three step plan before you can fight. First, you ask them to convert - which is what he just did. Then if they don't, you ask them to pay the jizya, which is a tax on non-muslims. Then if they don't pay you can kill them.

So, this message may have been step one. Not sure what he will do to ask for the jizya, or what he thinks that will be. But if he does something like that - look out, who knows what is coming next.

I'm pretty sure Osama bin Laden stated he did not pull off 9/11. Anybody remember that? Maybe that's why GWB didn't grab him when he could; but, still need a boogey man y'know.

I'm an intuitive rather than rational mind driven person. My intuition tells me that *IF* Osama bin Laden had really orchestrated 9/11, and *IF* it came as a totally unexpected surprise event, even the neocon pond scum would have grabbed him when they could have (although that was an outsourced mission).

There would have been so much press for free with grabbing him *IF* he really did it that the neocons would have been guaranteed reelection forever...so...what gives?
