So now Mickey is saying that I’m trying to have my cake and eat it too instead of “graciously accepting the mantle of nonpartisan truthseeker”. In fact, that’s precisely what I’ve ordered from the mantle shop. And he knows it. In an email exchange this weekend, he wrote that I must choose between the Judy Theory and the Rove-is-guilty camp -- to which I replied (graciously, I thought): “I choose the truth!!!!” Okay, maybe I went a little overboard on the exclamation points... but does that sound like trying to have my cake and eat it too? As Mickey must be tired of hearing me say, the left-right way of looking at things is obsolete. And it inevitably relegates truth to an afterthought.
