Stop the Presses: Bill Keller’s Surprising Admission


… No he’s still in denial about Judy Miller (at least in the memo he sent to Times staffers today). But he does offer a startling admission: that the Miller affair has kept the Times from doing its job. “With any luck,” he wrote in the memo, “all of you can resume your undistracted, full-throttle pursuit of putting out the best news report in the world.” As opposed to the distracted, second-gear, hamstrung, and often delusional stuff they’ve been putting out for months?

And I love how Keller is conveniently heading out of town for the next two weeks “visiting our correspondents in Asia”. I guess the flight to “the end of the earth” was already booked.
