This was quite a week for bad behavior. Bill Belichick was caught cheating (sorry, I mean, misinterpreting the rules); Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell was caught lying to Congress (sorry, I mean, overstating the role warrantless eavesdropping played in thwarting a major terror plot); and OJ Simpson reportedly robbed a man at gunpoint. Over sports memorabilia. Then there was Tony Snow, who ended his truth-challenged run as press secretary by claiming, when asked about the possibility of a long term US military presence in Iraq, "Yeah, well, the Iraqis want that." Yeah, well, actually they don't. A new poll shows that 79 percent of Iraqis oppose our being there, and 57 percent approve of attacks against US troops. So, tragically, what the majority of Iraqis actually want is more dead American soldiers.

That is the mission of Representative Press, let people know what is going on. See video: ""I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil" - Alan Greenspan, Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan writes this in his new book "The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World"
does anyone see a pattern here?...
therefore, why does anyone think that Iraq will capitulate after being razed to the ground?
I think that the MoveOn ad will eventually do more damage to the Democrats than the Republicans. I do agree with most of the content in the ad but the manner of presentation was just wrong. It seems to imply tha Petreus is at the heart of this thing and, as far as I can tell, it is and always has been the White House. MoveOn has likely some of the most intelligent people in the country under it's wing and they should know better. They sound like the Dem version of Ann freakin Coulter.
He never held a buddy while he died in the jungle. He never knew the smell of blood, and had other mens blood on his hands from trying to save and mend their broken up bodies.
Death is far removed from Bush. He is seen joking and laughing with troops like it was a fraternity party.
George Bush has never had to be responsible for any of his actions. Yet, we as a people (certianly not individually or not me)gave him responsibility for the lives of one of our greatest resources, those who serve to defend this Nation. It is sad that once again Bush is going to walk away from the mess he has made and never be held accountable. An oil company or a baseball team are not really that important. The lives given bravely because they trusted their government - that is us folks - and those who served in offices of that goverment.
We have requirements that candidates put their name on their political ads. It would be some comfort to know that each Comander and Chief would be required to put their name on each grave marker of the men who died on their watch. Accountability. That is what we need. We have it for almost everything else, why not the real treasure of any democracy (republic or whatever), the people willing to give everything to defend and serve.
MORE ROPE!
Ethanol from corn - INEFFICIENT.
Ethanol from industrial hemp (the kind George Washington made a nice living raising) - (pardon the pun...) HIGHLY EFFICIENT.
Trouble is, it's a WEED that can grow to heights of fifteen feet in a single season in any kind of crappy soil without the 'benefit' of Big Oil's pesticides, herbicides (something of an oxymoron, if ya think about it) or fertilizers.
Oh, and ADM, Cargill and Monsanto haven't figured out how to patent it's genetic makeup.
Yet. Just give 'em time.
Them's the facts--at least up to now.
However, the freebie e-mails are apparently blocking their subscritpion e-mail to their customers, ... Hotmail, Yahoo, Microsoft, and some others. It is troubling to me that the corporations behind those services deem Truthout's mailings as somehow unworthy of being delivered. Or perhaps there is more to it!

There is no longer a blog at TO as there once was, ... but their right to speak and write their opinions to readers MUST NOT depend upon the whim of corporations. Worse, ... it is troubling that all of these corporations have taken the action at this moment!
In the end, we must protect the right of everyone to speak freely without interference, if anyone is to retain that right!
