Sunday Roundup

This was the week of the near tear, the hot button iron, and the polls that couldn't count straight. The tape of Hillary's choke up was analyzed more closely than the Zapruder film, with the media parsing each quiver of her lip with Talmudic intensity. Waterworks might have cost Ed Muskie New Hampshire in '72, and delivered it to Clinton 36 years later. Or maybe it was Hillary's standing ovation-inducing retort to the "iron my shirt" hecklers: "Oh, the remnants of sexism are alive and well." Take that, chauvinist shock jock pigs! As for the pollsters, they were as accurate in their prediction of an Obama cakewalk as the neocons were in predicting one in Iraq. To battle the pollsters' chronic inaccuracy, HuffPost has launched a Say No to Pollsters petition. Sign up here.

I keep waiting for someone in the MSM or the so called "progressive" blogosphere to bring up Hillary's more recent vote for the Kyl Lieberman amendment you know the amendment that Senator Webb called "tantamount to declaring war on Iran" the amendment that was created by the same cakewalk zealots that lied this nation into Iraq. The one Senator Webb said was " VP Cheneys pipe dream"

The most critical legislation on Iran that Obama was to busy to be in town for. That warmongering amendment that turned the Iranian Revolutionary Guard into "terroirist".

The same Iranian Revolutionary Guard that U.S. Navy ships are misrepresenting in the Straits of HOrmuz....you know those Kyl Lieberman "terrorist"

When will someone ask Hillary and OBama about this vote or lack of?

Well Arianna I still see you are still ignoring Edwards, just as you did on Air America's Mark Green's show "7 days in America" on Jan 5th. This program was focused on the Iowa vote and you and Gary Hart went along with Greens agenda...Obama Obama Obama Clinton. You did not even mention Edwards even after his second place win...Green was oh so obvious but you Arianna went along with the program. Oh wait a minute you did mention Edwards but in such an obvious tone as if he was such a loser. You along with Gary Hart and certainly Mark Green should be ashamed of yourselves. You not only did the public a huge dis-service, you did your profession a dis service. People should go to Air American and listen to that program. It was pitiful...Cheerleading is all it was Cheerleading...Not fair and balanced at all.

I have to give it to Katrina of the Nation she at least attempted to bring up Edwards second place win but Mark Green that so called "progressive" news person just swept Katrina's effort under that cough cough "progressive" rug.

I believe the polls and the exit polls were essentially correct. I also believe someone flipped the votes. Obama won hands down in hand-counted ballots by about 52% to Hillary's 47%. It the optical scan count, however, it was exactly reversed, i.e., Obama 47%; Hillary 52%. This needs to be checked out.

Did anyone else notice how George Will, on This Week with George Stephanopoulos, awkwardly and with calculation, raised his right hand up to his face to mock Hillary Clinton?

It is this kind of smarmy political campaigning which reassures me that I do not want the Clintons back in office. How often does a Clinton supporter say something disparaging about Sen. Obama and--oops--once it's out, he didn't really mean it, and of course Sen. Clinton completely disavows their nasty underhanded remarks. Sen. Kerry was right. The Clintons are about themselves and power--and one last thing, the past.

Speaking of Sunday talk shows, is Tim Russert a moron or is he just lazy. The last thing anyone wanted to hear about was Hillary's vote in 1992 authorizing the return of inspectors to Iraq. How many times does she has to explain that this was not a vote for war? And how many times does TR has to ask her about it. What the media needs to do is ask the candidates how they will tackle the problems facing our country. How will HRC bring healthcare to the 43 million people without? How will we invest to stop global warming?

Has anyone else read Scientific America's plan to convert the US economy to solar power? Why don't the talking heads ask about that instead?

I think it is time to get Randy, Paula and Simon together for a season of AMERICAN PRESIDENT. Just think of the stupidity already undertaken and the idea actually has merit. We could bring back Richardson for a Wild Card candidate and when Billary begins to cry we will have good old Simon critique her actions. Man, what a season that would be!

The 'iron my shirt' guy was a CLinton plant so she could play the gender card and the victim card at the same time. It worked for the bufoons in NH, but nobody else is buying it.

The thing that frustrates me is you don't see many Clinton supporters slamming Obama or Edwards. I don't slam any DEM candidates because I think they are all good candidates with the good of the nation in mind. So when I read so many anti-Clinton posts and articles originating from DEMS I wonder how you could possibly be TRUE Democrats and still attack members of the party like that. I don't see much difference between Republicans and some Democrats right now. Rise above this people. Give all our candidates a chance!

Wow. The thought of a woman president has the entire DC establishment, including WOMEN pundits, up in arms.

A lot of women haters here. I'm voting for Hillary.

PERIOD!

Since the debacle in Florida we have had a problem with voting in this country. I think how we conduct elections should be an issue for the presidential election. After, the nightmare of Florida I wrote my Senator to ask him to make sure that such a thing could never happen again. We must have confidence that OUR votes are being counted. We have lost confidence in the process and that is a real danger to our democracy.

Since the politicians are so content with this system I think we the voters of each state should demand a recount of all the votes in every election this year. I am not joking. I would rather go back to hand ballots than have any doubt about who REALLY won an election.

These voting machines are scarring me... America is better than this.

God Bless Dennis Kucinich. If all he does from now on is to demand recounts he will have done a great service for our country.

Hillary is a self-defeating and tragic figure in American history. I think we've had enough of her and her insufferable husband. Stop the Clinton psychodrama!

Comparing election predictions to war predictions is a little like comparing a trip to the supermarket to a trip to the moon.
