Sunday Roundup

Talk about a reality disconnect: making a 5th war anniversary visit to Iraq, Dick Cheney called the surge a "major success." Also in Iraq, John McCain - in between repeatedly asserting a nonexistent connection between al-Qaeda and Iran - crowed, "the surge is working." Meanwhile, in Baghdad, a highly touted conference on political reconciliation (the actual goal of the surge) exposed just how divided Iraq remains: three of the country's most important political factions boycotted the event. "We entered the conference to reaffirm our support for national reconciliation, and we left to show our rejection of all these fake conferences," said one boycotter. But the quote of the week belonged to Cheney who, when asked about polls showing two-thirds of Americans don't think the war in Iraq is worth it, replied: "So?" Happy Easter, HuffPosters.

Cheney's response is what really troubles me about this administration.
His arrogants is supported by his invulnerablity.
He is untouchable and he knows it.
After all isn't impeachment off the table?

The above link, may be the most important link you ever visit--in this era of Bush/Cheney-isms, and the Constitutional Rights they abridge almost daily!

It is time to wage War against the Bush Administration--not with weapons or violence, but by active protests and persistent and rightful Legal Writ! The House of Representatives, (435 members) has the sole powers to "Impeach"--the Senate adjudicates such mandates.

By clicking on the above link, you will be directed to a website--1-Million people strong....................all demanding the House of Representative MUST respond by Law, to the demands of its Citizens. Please join now.......................while we still have "Rights" and "Priviledges"!

The below is a copy of my letter sent to my State's Representative--you can copy it, or you can write your own--either way--as a Patriotic Citizen of the United States of America, you owe the Constitution to your children's futures!

Mar 23, 2008

Representative____________
Washington, DC 20515-3005

Dear Representative_____________,

I support House Resolution 799 calling for the impeachment of Vice
President Richard Cheney. I also support the impeachment of George W. Bush. As your constituent, I am writing to insist that you and the
rest of the House of Representatives carry out your constitutional
duties to defend the Constitution of the United States by supporting
impeachment.

Please Acknowledge:

1. "The Patriot Act"--written while the Nation's people were under duress

2. "Homeland Security"--written while the Nation's people were under
duress

Currently, President Bush, has publicly said, that he will Veto any
Legislation in which Telecommunications Companies may be held libel
for thier cooperations with the U.S Government's Illegal and Un-Constitutional use of Wire Taps and Sattelite Communications Interceptions--Spying! This is an outrage! This is again, a Bush Administration admission of thier complete disregards for the U.S Constitution, and its Rights reserved to "We, the people", in which they, pledged an Oath in their Affirmations of Offices, to uphold and protect!

Additionally, in which document or Legal Writ of Congressional Approval, does it stipulate the U.S Government, may at any time, forcibly recruit and engage Private Industry to breech any/all Legal Contractual Oligations which may exist, between the Private Company and thier customers/consumers? In my "Terms of Service" Agreement, with my Telecommunications Provider, it is clearly stipulated, that my "Rights to Privacy" be honored by said Provider! Contracts which are legally binding upon willing participants should remain the property of those who enter into them. "The Service Provider" in this case, should not be granted an extension of "Suspended Habeas Corpus" as it is neither a Government body, nor en extension thereof. The Bush Administration, nor Congress, has the Legal or Executive or Judicial Powers to foced Private Industry to lay in breech of thier contractual obligations in which willing participants entered into those agreements with spefic rights of Privacy, clearly defined within! There is not a Legal Merit in Constitutional Law, which grants the U.S Government the rights to force any breech of Legally Binding Contracts (Private) between consenting parties, in the name of National Security or otherwise!

This is aggregious and willful intent of the Bush Administration to cause harm to "Contract Law" and those who in good faith, enter into such contracts--irregardless of service or product. As such, the Bush Administration, must not and cannot be allowed to skirt and hide behind the "The Suspension of Habeas Corpus"--their intentions are obviously harmful and as such, Bush/Cheney should be held libel for damages suffered, as a result of thier participation in/all damages suffered by private industry forced to abridge thier contractual obligations with thier customers, while violating the Individual's Constitutional Rights to "Privacy".

The Bush Administration is running "Rough Shot" over the Communications Industry, with only the weakest of Legal Juris Prudence-- both the "Patriot Act" and "Homeland Security" were both authored at a time when the U.S and its Citizens were under duress, along with false Bush Administrative Reportings, we now know to be falsified and clearly intentional. Therefore for, the U.S and its Citizens were under duress; 9/11; "The Declaration of War" against Iraq; current evidentiary proof, that the Bush Administration willfully did lie to Congress and America, about its having performed proper "Due Dilligence of Security Reports" in which led to U.S Troop deployment. Therefore both "The Patriot Act" and "Homeland Security" which were authored in great part, due to the findings and facts, in which we know today, are false and intentional misrepresentations, should make those pieces of Legislation, null and void, until the House of Representatives re-asses and then the U.S Senate re-adjudicates them properly.

Again, the U.S Citizen and both houses of Congress, have been "hood-winked" into passing Legislation which was authored under duress in whole, as a scheme by the Bush Administration's intents to wage an Illegal War! Additionally, with the light being shown on recent said evidentiary proof, we continue to be under duress, as a Nation of "People with Honor and Integrity", until such a time as both houses of Congress completes its investigations into the Bush Administration's breeches of Constitutionally protected rights and priviledges!

Therefore, it is appropriate, legal and within the power of the "People" to demand the House of Representatives, re-convene for an "Emergency Session", in which the "People" are demanding the immediate support of "Impeachment Procedings". Additionally, under the Legal Term "Duress", we demand the "Patriot Act" and "Homeland Security" both be re-investigated for its violations of Constitutional rights and priviledges reserved to "The People". Until such a time, "We, the people, remain under duress and will remain as such, until such a time, as Congress reassures us, those pieces of Legislation are Constitutionally Sound".

Thank you.

Every action in Iraq from allowing the systematic looting of museums and public buildings, to tearing down the government bureaucracy, to dismantling the army and promoting sectarian strife was part of a deliberate plan, not to build up a new unified, democratic country, but to ensure that the US would be in complete control of the country for well into the future. Conquer and divide is the oldest rule of imperial governance. Rumsfeld/Cheney and the rest of the neocon crowd have largely gotten their way; an Iraq so devastated and divided, that the central government can only be maintained by American military force, leaving us the de-facto rulers of the country. Iraq cannot regain its sovereignty while we remain the occupying power and that was the intent from the beginning. You cannot steal the oil and keep Iraq from becoming a resurgent threat to Israel if the Iraqis are unified and in control. So for Cheney, its been a major success.
06:18 PM on 03/23/2008
If the Iraqis can't find the peace table after 5 years and billions of dollars and every other imaginable kind of support, they will never find it. It is time to leave. The U.S. has done all that can reasonably be expected of it, even by the twisted standards of Bush, Cheney and McCain.
05:20 PM on 03/23/2008
Dick Cheney simply cut to the chase when he replied to the recent public opinion poll on Iraq.

Public opinion is not considered relevant to policy-makers. Consider the carefully crafted statements coming from candidates during this election cycle. All of them have left on the table the option to pursue exactly the policies we've been pursuing. And so they will, continuing to trample our civil liberties while squandering our wealth and our potential.

A few years from now voters will come to the same conclusion they always do; if we could just get the right person in office, from the right party, he or she would be able to clean up the mess we're in.

It would be quite amusing if it wasn't so tragic.

The smoking gun of the Iraq war will be found when we finally get the details of Cheney's famous "energy conference". There's a reason that nothing has been published about that conflab w/ industry energy leaders: Cheney promised them a firm grip on Iraqi oil via an invasion, and occupation.

I agree with you 100%. But how will we ever find out what happened in that meeting? Cheney is an expert at covering his slimy tracks. Everything is "classified" or "confidential", everything, even a memo about the rest rooms. And it is all destroyed. The man is a genius, too bad he's not on our side.
TOOO
Warning: Rabid Monty Python fan!

By "So?", Cheney means, "So what are they going to do about it?"

This country is being run by bullies, and all we can do is wait them out. The Roman Empire fell, the British Empire fell, even the Soviet Empire fell. Eventually, the Bush/Cheney Empire must fall. Unfortunately, it will take the rest of us with it.

Happy Easter, everyone.

Well Poppycock, I think that your purpose is mis-understood. The first purpose George Bush had was to find weapons of mass destruction....OOPS He didn't find them....Let's see....The second purpose was to get rid of Saddam.........OOPS He did that! He achieved his purpose on the ship when he said MISSION COMPLETED.....OOPS.....His next purpose was this....His next purpose was that.............OOPS....I think that we are running out of purposes......Don't you think that really.........Our asses should have never been introuced in Iraq and our asses should have stayed in Afganistan totally? I remember Bush's comments standing on the pile of debris in NEW YORK......There is no place he can hide.....Don't you worry....We will get him........HEY BUSH....He isn't in Iraq.....
When are you people going to have common sense and realize that we have been BAMBOOZLED.
Happy Easter

You are so correct, only Afganistan was used as the stepping stone to invade Iraq. It was all well planned by design. The little Dictator Lied" his way from the start, all the while infesting all three Branches of our government in corruption.

On this Day of all Days, I am saddened deeply by what I see and hear. People who say that they share Christian beliefs are on tv, in newspapers and blogs embracing, selling and celebrating the contrived murders and mutilations taking place in the crusade against Islamists that we invented so that we could have an enemy to hate(ofascists). Even though there isn't nearly the commercial value of Christmas and fuxnews doesn't see a war on it, Easter should be the most important day of the year and warmongers and profiteers should at least stifle their sales pitches, today. Jesus weeps, I guarantee.

Dear Ms. Huffington:

Guess you missed this news--from 2003:
(CBS/AP) U.S., European and Arab intelligence agencies believe an elite security force controlled by Iran's hard-line clerics is protecting key al Qaeda figures who are directing operations from inside Iran, a newspaper reports.
And a son of Osama bin Laden is believed to be a leader of that al Qaeda Iranian branch, says The Washington Post. 10/13/03

03/03:
U.S. intelligence officials believe that part of Osama bin Laden's family has now moved to Iran, which is playing host to an ever growing contingent of al-Qaida members.
The Iran-based branch of bin Laden's clan includes three of the terror mastermind's sons, according to the Los Angeles Times. Several of bin Laden's wives and other relatives are suspected of being there as well, U.S. officials told the paper.
The bin Laden information was gathered through the use of electronic eavesdropping [ILLEGAL!!!!] and satellite surveillance that can monitor the daily movements of designated individuals.
Beyond the bin Ladens, however, Iran is playing host to an increasing number of al-Qaida operatives - a development that has U.S. intelligence fearing a burgeoning alliance with the terror group.

U.S. Says Iraq Aided Production of Chemical
This article was reported by WILLIAM J. BROAD, BARBARA CROSSETTE, JUDITH MILLER and STEVEN LEE MYERS and written by MYERS

wASHINGTON -- The United States believed that senior Iraqi scientists were helping to produce elements of the nerve agent VX at a factory in Khartoum that American cruise missiles destroyed last week, administration and intelligence officials said on Monday.

Then we have the Joint Resolution in which CONGRESS AUTHORIZED us to ENFORCE all relevant UN Resolutions adddressed the issue of “PROGRAMS” more than STOCKPILES!!:

Whereas in 1998 Congress concluded that Iraq's continuing weapons of mass destruction programs [sic!!] threatened vital United States interests and international peace and security, declared Iraq to be in "material and unacceptable breach of its international obligations" and
urged the President "to take appropriate action, in accordance with the Constitution and relevant laws of the United States, to bring Iraq into compliance with its international obligations" (Public Law 105-235);

Whereas Iraq both poses a continuing threat to the national security of the United States and international peace and security in the Persian Gulf region and remains in material and unacceptable breach of its international obligations by, among other things, continuing to
possess and develop [sic!!!} a significant chemical and biological weapons capability, actively seeking [sic!!!]a nuclear weapons capability, and supporting and harboring terrorist organizations;

Whereas United Nations Security Council Resolution 678 authorizes the use of all necessary means to enforce United Nations Security Council Resolution 660 and subsequent relevant resolutions and to compel Iraq to cease certain activities that threaten international peace and security, including the development [sic!!!] of weapons of mass destruction…..

SEC. 3. AUTHORIZATION FOR USE OF UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.
(a) AUTHORIZATION. The President is authorized to use the Armed Forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate in order to (1) defend the national security of the United States against the continuing threat posed by Iraq; and
(2) enforce all relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions regarding Iraq

….and we do know from the Duelfer report that WMD PROGRAMS were ready to be resumed once France & russia succeeded in getting the sanctions lifted.

You forgot that the smoking gun could come in the form of a mushroom cloud. That was printed many, many more times than your quotes. Al quaid is antithetical to the Iranian theocracy. You sir, must be a neoconman or an extraterrestrial(interchangeable).

sorry-- just a nyc born and bred 60's liberal dem who went to hs just outside greenwich village, lunched on occasion with the pres of brooklyn college's sds---the real problems affecting my judgement are:
1- I lived in Kuwait during the Iran-iraq war--several of my friends and colleagues did not find out the fate of family members taken by Iraq in 90/91 until WE enforced the UN's resolutions (you know--the one about repatriating >800 kuwaitis taken by Iraq---thats equivalent to about 250,000 americans unaccounted for!
2- i have a number of good friends [who i've been communicating with regularly since 1992] in basrah, iraq who suffered under Saddam
3- my old zip code on staten island had the most deaths on 9-11 of any zip code
4- one of my sisters attended more than 14 funerals of firefighters who died on 9-11.

REALITY trumps idealism!!!

On ABC's This Week Jon Kyl Blames minorities, the young and the poor for the US economic woes.
Listen Here..
http://inewstube.com/smm/this-week---jon-kyl-democrats-minorities-poor-and-young-to-blame-for-economic-problems.html

JON KYL: "Of course, it wasn't the Bush administration as much as it was Democrats in Congress, who were pushing the lending institutions to get out there and lend more money even to unqualified buyers, to the minorities, to the poor, to the young, so that everyone could own a home. The Bush administration was somewhat to blame for that as well, but Democrats in Congress were making that push."

BushCo kept asserting that there was an AQ Iraq connection, which wasn't true. Maybe McCain is trying the same lie except using Iran instead of Iraq so he can invade Iran.

On Easter Sunday, the only thing that comes to mind is deep and abiding shame that a supposedly 'Christian' nation would engage in preemptive war against a nation that posed no threat and kill tens of thousands of women and children in a quest for cheap oil.
01:49 PM on 03/23/2008
Let's not forget who adopted pre-emption as a foreign policy instrument first:

“….yesterday's strikes in Afghanistan…. mark the beginning of a 'long-term battle" against terrorists…………. [The] Secretary called the strikes a pre-emptive measure.”
M. Albright! in 1998.

just like rendition--the Clinton administration adopted it as a tactic first!!
