Sunday Roundup

Posted: 09/18/11 01:00 AM ET

This week, audience members at a GOP debate cheered the prospect of letting an uninsured man die, prompting a Jon Huntsman staffer to say the outbursts made her "sick and sad" for her party. Other events of the week proved that "sick and sad" was an apt diagnosis: Mitt Romney -- clearly suffering from acute political delirium -- described Dick Cheney as "a man of wisdom and judgment." Pat Robertson, exhibiting all the signs of stage 4 moral decay, told 700 Club viewers that divorcing a spouse with Alzheimer's is okay because the disease is "a kind of death." Then there was John Boehner's classic case of voluntary memory loss, wherein he called job-creation policies he has supported in the past "short-term gimmicks." A two party system is in bad shape when one of the parties is so deeply sick. Is there a doctor in the house (or the Senate)?

Sunday's Roundup, from "Imagine It News":

This week, at an open, global round table gathering, everyone considered the needs of others before his/her own needs. This mutually guaranteed agreement resulted in a striking realization of real care, concern, and love for all humanity, and it rippled throughout—globally to all. Several online attendees that interconnected to the event, joyfully remarked, "The feelings and impressions we have while sharing and working through topics together cannot be described in mere words. As soon as we all agreed to consider one another's needs before our own, we were each free to really listen, and to hear and know one another, since each person speaking, spoke for the best benefit of everyone in the world. It's as if we operated as mutually beneficial cells functioning in harmony to cooperatively benefit our mutual body. Due to this cooperative work, our own needs were naturally met, and the whole world immediately illuminated change!" The host of the event, from WeR1 Creations, announced that these kinds of mutual agreement gatherings have begun to spread virally, thanks to the interconnected, global method of communication that we now all utilize. ~ "Imagine It News"

Which of the two parties is "sick"? I for one intend to write in my votes in 2012 for the first time in my life.
The Democrats are sick as well!

The GOP suffers from total dementia.
The Dems suffer from chronic cowardice.

Do you guys seriously believe this tripe? The audience cheered when Paul said: "That's what freedom is all about. You take your own risks..." To the direct follow-up, "Are you saying that society should just let him die?" Paul ansers "No."

Here look at it for yourself - don't be a sheep. And, as always make good choices, I can't afford you.

"...are you saying society should just let him die."

"YEAH!"

That's what I heard. I didn't hear any of those on stage say that wasn't okay. But hey, NDY, you hear what you want and I'll hear what I want. Isn't THAT what freedom's all about?

Despite all this a republican still took a near 100 year democratic seat during the special election. We are in trouble as a world, not just a country.

Mitt must be looking to the private defense companies for campaign donations with his comment. It's so absurd it might work.

I'd say wake up America, but I don't think anyone's sleeping, they must have completely checked out.

I read stuff like this and wonder if I should stockpile rice and beans and whiskey for the coming collapse.

Also, Pat, didn't most aging Evangelical Christians take vows before GOD to stay married in sickness and in health?

The interviewer asked him that. It's why he said Alheimer's is a kind of death so the guy should get a divorce.

Pat probably thinks Alzheimer's patients are possessed by demons so divorce gets the good Christian away from the unfaithful Christian who let themselves get possessed.

We have 13 months to get it right. After that, it is business as usual. Keep the pressure on they are playing for time trying to run out the clock. Where are the jobs? What is the plan for getting out of the depression? Where is our energy policy? What is our Trade policy?

They put the country through hell. Let's hold them accountable.

13 months.

All true. But if one just keeps repeating how sick the Republicans have become and fails to take a look at oneself and realize that the Democrats aren't in much better shape, then the Republicans are going to win the next election. And they are going to win big. Because the Democrats may not applaud the prospect of letting an uninsured man die, but they are pretty ok with keeping Guantanamo open and drone attacks on... And so on and so forth...

I don't know whether there's a doctor in the house, but are the rich willing to venture onto the battlefield ala Florence and Clara and nurse the wounded?

Or would it interfere with their lunch dates?

Your criticism of Cheney, Romney, and the GOP is understandable. You need to cover up/ignore Obama's track record as we approach 2012--Obama: an additional $4 trillion in debt, beholden to trial lawyers, unions and other specials interests, growing scandals e.g., Solyndra, Fast and Furious (Holder should reesign over this yet you are strangely silent), employment still over 9% while blocking new Boeing jobs and watching his jobs czar send jobs to China, a health care law that will cost Americans hundreds of billions, sapped Medicare and may be found in part unconstitutional but yet his Administration gives waivers to all sorts of special interest groups, and now a new jobs bill that will give businesses a one-year benefit and then hammer them in the ensuing years. Any wonder why businesses are afraid to invest?
