Increasingly desperate, John McCain and the GOP are throwing the kitchen sink at Barack Obama. No wonder they called Joe the Plumber. So this week brought racist mailers, a tidal wave of robocalls, more Bill Ayers, Sarah Palin's love of the "pro-American areas of this great nation," and McCain's outlandish claim that ACORN is "destroying the fabric of democracy." Not unwarranted wiretapping, waterboarding, extraordinary rendition, or the denial of habeas corpus. ACORN. Bringing this toxic collection together in one despicable no-goodie bag was Rush Limbaugh, who charged that Obama -- aided and abetted by Ayers and ACORN -- is "smack dab in the middle" of a 30-year plot to teach black children to "hate, hate, hate" America. It's going to take more than a plumber to pull McCain's -- and his party's -- reputation out of the sewer.

I am also concerned that Obama has dropped from 10 points ahead to 6 points ahead in Virginia poll. Coupled with purging of voter rolls being done in all precincts, McCain could steal this election from Obama.

Will someone please ask McCain this question in an interview: Especially given the grave problems our nation faces, do you think the public has a right to "get to know" your running mate Sarah Palin by way of some press interviews? DOn't you think the press has the right to ask her some questions? If she is such a tough woman, why does she deny access to herself?
It is unbelievable that we have in Palin a potential president whom we aren't allowed to know at all, except in scripted ways? How did things get so absurd in this nation?? MCain needs to be put on the spot about this!

Sarah Palin and John McCain are insulting those of us who hold different views on the war in Iraq, terrorism in general, and their economic policy. They have written me off -- is that how they intend to win votes?

McCain will win. Electoral College margin of less than 20. We will be doing the same dance we did when W won over Gore without the "conceding". We will be sitting around shocked that despite polls and the most commonly held views of reasonable, intelligent people, FOX News managed to reach the unreasonable, not-intelligent voters after all.
Cries of "THEFT" will resound! Recounts will reveal scores of illegalities for both candidates. The recount result will still give the Electoral College majority to McCain. The "swing" states will be split and the surprise will be those that were not "swing states" (according to our inveterate pollsters).
The Right wing will be unrepentant and arrogantly assume that America needs their brand of Governance even more now... The only difference will be despite McCain's HUGE Unpopularity - he will not invest his resources in consolidating Power the way W did almost 1 year after he stole that election...... Now please understand that this is the last scenario I hope to see and I will cast my vote in New York state for Senator Obama, but I hope that all people who want to see a Chief Executive of Obama's caliber, will take a break from reading comments like mine (even the more insightful and entertaining comments of so many others) and instead devote some real time and energy to persuading a McCain supporter to change their vote – (it truly is the only hope we have of avoiding this disaster) and it's FUN!

The fat lady is currently engaging her diaphragm, in readiness for a vocal wormup befor she, eventually starts to sing. If you listen veeeery carefully, you'll hear her:

"Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So..." etc and so on.

Obama/Biden 08. You know it makes sense.

After a thorough examination of the hopelessly plugged piping in one of John McCain's houses, the plumber stood up and hitched up his sagging pants that had slipped midway down his backside, partially exposing the crack of his lily-white buttocks. He then revealed to McCain the grim prognosis of the steadily deteriorating situation.
"W'ell," said the plumber, "from what I can see, you have 2 options. You can either forget da idea of savin' dis house and move into any of your other 6 homes, cuzz da pipin' is shot.; or you can proceed with what we in da industry call 'throwin' da kitchen sink' at the problem. Dat is, we can blow out all of da pipes wit extremely high pressure. Now, it might rupture da pipes, causin' some serious damage to da house, ruinin' it anyway. An' dat pressure might enter da sewer main, rupturin' it an' makin' life miserable for everyone around who depends on dat main line. But there's a small chance dat it might...it just might...clear out da pipes in da house. Da choice is up to you."
After a lengthy period of contemplation (all of 2 seconds), McCain, with a disturbing grin on his face, responded with "Throw da kitchen sink at it!!!"
The pressure blew out the the house pipes and the main sewer line as well.

It still aint over till the fat lady sings.

Negative ads have worked in the past in getting the votes of disenfranchised white blue collar voters who need a new boogie man to blame life's travails on. Throw in their blind devotion to whatever trash Limbaugh spews out and you have yourself a large enough voting bloc to affect the outcome on November 4.

The folks over in wing-nuttia (No Quarter, Gateway, RedState, Capts. Quarters) think they have discovered a new link between Ayers and Obama...that they worked in the same "office": 115 S. Sangamon. It turns out that this address housed both the Educational group that Ayers worked for and the Annenberg Challenge Fund.

One problem: The materials they are posting have removed the actual office addresses, and a simple search by Google shows that this was (it's since been demolished) actually a very large 5 Story building that held the urban campus of the University of Illinois, Chicago! It was a general office building. And the offices for the two groups were on entirely different floors.

But the wingnuts should be fascinated by this nugget of information! The building also housed a group of college-aged individuals undertaking armed military-like training.

Yep...the ROTC! Imagine the influence of folks like William Ayers on those malleable, impressionable minds!

Holy Toledo. The republicans have come unhinged. McCain will never get his reputation back. I am so disgusted with this man. Obama has shown, in every move he makes, he is the right man for the job. If anyone doubted this before, it is crystal clear now.

Not even with his forgotten family members. As they so speak out against him.

What gets me is that Sarah palin is associated with an Alaskan sepratist organization that is very anti-American. BTW, her husband Todd Palin is a full fledged member of that same group.

And they were sponsored by Iran! Iran! I want to know why that has not been touched by the MSM even as this completely fake ACORN thing is getting clucked over right and left.

i think it is crystal clear that the Republican campaign has realized this tsunami of support for "change" and that their only glimmer is division.

It seems that the Repugs do not care about such things. What matters is that their NRA membership is current.

Bertha Lewis, Acorn's chief organizer, said in a statement that came with the photo, “It has deeply saddened us to see Senator McCain abandon his historic support for ACORN and our efforts to support the goals of low-income Americans."

”We are sure that the extremists he is trying to get into a froth will be even more excited to learn that John McCain stood shoulder to shoulder with ACORN, at an ACORN co-sponsored event, to promote immigration reform," she said."

It looks as though McCain will align himself with anybody and any organization to promote his personal agenda when it’s convenient for him and then knife them in the back when necessary. It seems that McCain worked with ACORN in 2006 on immigration reform. For the entire blog with photos go to:

One more thing...the Michelle interview. is anyone following this story? i know some have said that it's been debunked...but not totally - not while there's still talk of a tape being released "any day now"..

What I found when I read the alleged interview was that it was way too scripted for the neocon talking points.

I went to the website and you wouldn't believe how many people are foaming at the mouth and jumping up and down asking for the tape to be released to the credible and unbiased Hannity at Fox News.

I'm actually very worried about this. Thoughts anyone?

That's fake and has been debunked. Michelle Obama did not call up a reporter and go off like they are claiming. Anyone with a brain would know it is fake.

Well, they've painted themselves into a corner by claiming they've cleared all legal hurdles and will now release the tape within 24 hrs. I've seen a lot more solid debunking on other issues but like i said in my earlier post, the comments do sound like they come out of the neocon textbook. i sure hope you're right.

A non-existent tape similar to the "whitey" tape that never materialized. Another smear campaign to try and cause another distraction.

ONe need only go over to some of the right wing web sites and read some of the posts. They are filled with fear and hatred. Obama is a (pick any number)... muslim, socialist, communist, terrorist, a threat to America, the anti-christ. It would be laughable if it weren't so deeply disturbing.

McCain thinks he is leading a parade but in reality is being pushed along by a mob that will turn on him with out regrets. Note the boos when he siad Obama was a "decent man."

Rush is such a big fat fake. Remember how he dogged McCain during the primaries? He's not supporting McCain; he's just supporting the Republican candidate. He's only doing that because of the selection of Sarah Palin as the VP running mate.

"Increasingly desperate," the key element of McCain's strategy from the beginning has been to depict Obama as dangerous, associated with terrorists or on the far left and now a socialist. This negative movement is picking up steam. He uses the strategy not so much because he is desperate, but because it has worked before, and therefore it will work again. How close McCain gets to the White House will be a function of how rapidly voters will catch inspiration and hope in McCain's negative campaign--they're definitely out there. McCain and his campaign knows the voters who fall for this bait, no matter how much the forces of good reproach him for it. The battle lines have been drawn--it is McCain/Palin, their base, talk radio and Fox nation with its legions of smear-crazed fanatics versus Obama. Even as Obama outspends 4 to 1, and is clearly running the more honorable campaign, and is the most incredible, talented and inspiring candidate the world has seen in decades, and he is the right man for these most turbulent times, McCain/Palin are starting to see their strategy gain momentum.
