Sunday Roundup

This was quite a week for bad behavior. Bill Belichick was caught cheating (sorry, I mean, misinterpreting the rules); Director of National Intelligence Mike McConnell was caught lying to Congress (sorry, I mean, overstating the role warrantless eavesdropping played in thwarting a major terror plot); and OJ Simpson reportedly robbed a man at gunpoint. Over sports memorabilia. Then there was Tony Snow, who ended his truth-challenged run as press secretary by claiming, when asked about the possibility of a long term US military presence in Iraq, "Yeah, well, the Iraqis want that." Yeah, well, actually they don't. A new poll shows that 79 percent of Iraqis oppose our being there, and 57 percent approve of attacks against US troops. So, tragically, what the majority of Iraqis actually want is more dead American soldiers.

Maybe, we can start to recognize that we are equally guilty if we join in celebrating, or not forcefully condemning, people (mis)behaving BADLY!

Arianna, I was looking for your sunday roundup with the Kerry , McCain banter on Tim whats his name, meet the bullshit. Nothing, maybe you were our doing a barbeque or out enjoying a Gyros sandwich. Well I flipped the stations and when I saw John McCains eyes on fire and about to punch John Kerry, I stayed a while, this guy McCain looked furious, and Tim was afraid to utter a word, or he might get told to mind his own. I heard all the bullship banter for a few years now, but I thought Kerry finally got a pair and stirred up some good points that McCain's face was a bit red , and I'll bet there was spittle on the tab;le after they left. I didn't stay long enough to see if they both shook hands, so maybe Arianna can come up with the beef and declare a winner of this BS session.

Help spread the word about what Greenspan said.
Simply watch this short video, rate it 5 stars, favorite it and comment on it. This all helps get even more people to hear the truth because it move the video up the ranks:

That is the mission of Representative Press, let people know what is going on. See video: ""I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil" - Alan Greenspan, Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan writes this in his new book "The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World"

Bill Belichek "cheater", Mike McConnell "liar", and OJ Simpson "murderer, liar, and thief" all have faced minimal consequences for their actions because of money. It truly is at the root of all evil.

George Stephanolpolous at ABC is becoming a weak source. Little tough questions. Brings on Def Gates, Why? He has yet to ask tough questions on Iraq.

In Vietnam, we dropped more aerial high explosives than we used in all of World War II but the North Vietnamese refused to yield

does anyone see a pattern here?...

therefore, why does anyone think that Iraq will capitulate after being razed to the ground?

As anyone who takes the time to read this blog knows, this country has serious problems with leadership. I've come to the opinion, however, that the blasting of either David Petreus or Tony Snow is wrong. This is on the basis that they work for George Bush. It did not appear to me that General Petreus was lying during the hearings. It did appear as though he were putting the situation in the best possible light in the eyes of his boss. If you want to talk about deceptiveness, the place to start is with Mr. Bush's address that night.

I think that the MoveOn ad will eventually do more damage to the Democrats than the Republicans. I do agree with most of the content in the ad but the manner of presentation was just wrong. It seems to imply tha Petreus is at the heart of this thing and, as far as I can tell, it is and always has been the White House. MoveOn has likely some of the most intelligent people in the country under it's wing and they should know better. They sound like the Dem version of Ann freakin Coulter.

It is not that George Bush wants more dead Americans, it is that he doesn't care. When he had the oppotunity to serve he ducked into a protected National Guard outfit. So he never experienced what war is like.

He never held a buddy while he died in the jungle. He never knew the smell of blood, and had other mens blood on his hands from trying to save and mend their broken up bodies.

Death is far removed from Bush. He is seen joking and laughing with troops like it was a fraternity party.

George Bush has never had to be responsible for any of his actions. Yet, we as a people (certianly not individually or not me)gave him responsibility for the lives of one of our greatest resources, those who serve to defend this Nation. It is sad that once again Bush is going to walk away from the mess he has made and never be held accountable. An oil company or a baseball team are not really that important. The lives given bravely because they trusted their government - that is us folks - and those who served in offices of that goverment.

We have requirements that candidates put their name on their political ads. It would be some comfort to know that each Comander and Chief would be required to put their name on each grave marker of the men who died on their watch. Accountability. That is what we need. We have it for almost everything else, why not the real treasure of any democracy (republic or whatever), the people willing to give everything to defend and serve.

Which we'd have if those potophobes in D.C. weren't certain that we'd just smoke it...

Ethanol from corn - INEFFICIENT.

Ethanol from industrial hemp (the kind George Washington made a nice living raising) - (pardon the pun...) HIGHLY EFFICIENT.

Trouble is, it's a WEED that can grow to heights of fifteen feet in a single season in any kind of crappy soil without the 'benefit' of Big Oil's pesticides, herbicides (something of an oxymoron, if ya think about it) or fertilizers.
Oh, and ADM, Cargill and Monsanto haven't figured out how to patent it's genetic makeup.

Yet. Just give 'em time.

It seems to me, Ariana, that George Bush wants more dead Americans, too...so he and the Iraqis have a point of agreement there.

Nothing about Hsu and the democrats?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:34 AM on 09/16/2007

From everything I've read, and this includes the WSJ, Hsu was the kind of donor who gave and never asked for anything in return. True, he may be a crook, but it appears that his sole reason for giving was to support the Democrats. Last I heard, it was okay to give money to your favored party. Still no evidence that he kicked back money to other people to "donate."

Them's the facts--at least up to now.

the 21% of Iraqis who are silent, are afraid that if we leave they may just have to stand up to defend and fight for a change for their country.

Is there such a thing as truth anymore? I see this weekly parade of "behavior" and creative story telling and believe that this is who we are. In places high and low, Americans have become a truth challenged, ethically bankrupt, and intellectually impoverished people.

I am no great advocate for Truthout.org, ... but my concerns with them are are personal.

However, the freebie e-mails are apparently blocking their subscritpion e-mail to their customers, ... Hotmail, Yahoo, Microsoft, and some others. It is troubling to me that the corporations behind those services deem Truthout's mailings as somehow unworthy of being delivered. Or perhaps there is more to it!

There is no longer a blog at TO as there once was, ... but their right to speak and write their opinions to readers MUST NOT depend upon the whim of corporations. Worse, ... it is troubling that all of these corporations have taken the action at this moment!

In the end, we must protect the right of everyone to speak freely without interference, if anyone is to retain that right!
