Happy Thanksgiving, HuffPosters! Even as the economic hard times continue -- exacerbated by Congress' unwillingness to extend unemployment benefits -- there is much to be thankful for. I'm thankful Wesley Snipes and Charlie Rangel don't do my taxes. I'm thankful that I'm not traveling this week, so it will be a no-junk-groped Thanksgiving. I'm thankful for the explosion of creativity and compassion aimed at preventing Third World America that I saw all around the country on my book tour. I'm thankful my daughters are home from college for the holidays. I'm thankful that my first three months as an empty-nester have allowed for a crazier work schedule, but with more sleep, meditating, and working out integrated into even the craziest days. And I'm very thankful for our amazing and fast-growing HuffPost team and our passionate, engaged community. How about you? What are you thankful for? Let us know in the comments section.

I'm thankful that there are places where Americans can meet, discuss and argue the topics that will directly affect our lives and those of our children.
Thanks, Arianna and crew...

While saying "Thanks!" is a good first step, actions speak louder than words.
Even if it's something so simple as voting...or actually taking the time to read a complete NYT or HuffPo editorial, we have the responsibility for making the very Democracy we're thankful for - "better."
And, since an effective democratic society relies on active, informed participation by its members, what better way to say "thanks" than to participate!
Stay informed. Contribute time, money (or widsom). Back a candidate or a cause. Get off the sideline.

The Spirit of Thanksgiving
O Generous Spirit
We thank you for food, and remember the hungry
We thank you for shelter, and remember the homeless
We thank you for health, and remember the sick
We thank you for friends and remember the friendless
We thank you for plenty, and remember those wanting
We thank you for freedom and remember those enslaved
We thank you for Life, and remember those who have passed on
May these remembrances stir us to service
May your gifts to us be shared with other
Amen””
The Republicans now have the best platform in the House from which to display to middle class Americans just how screwed up they still are about the economy and national security. If this fake publicity stunt over pat downs at the airport is any indication, this term of the House is going to be a three ring circus with the clowns running the show into bankruptcy.
The Bush incompetence and Palin insanity will know no bounds and bring even more absurd policy proposals to the fore when voters had almost forgotten how destructive their last round of irresponsibility was to the country. Thank you, Teabaggers, for reminding us all.
Let the Faux News All Stars come to the floor of the House, so we can wipe them up off of it in 2012.
They won't be able to pass anything in the Senate, but they sure can make fools of themselves in the process. If I was a betting man, I'd risk my money of their ruining the chances of any establishment presidential candidate in 2012. It's that Fetus in the Bottle thing on steroids. They just can't help themselves.
Please let Rand Paul show them the way to the irrelevancy of the Libertarian Party.
thank you Adriana and staff....
you have all become a bright light in the darkness that we often have to live through and somehow put up with.....
I hope that, someday, the haters and obstructionists who are thwarting the will of the American majority will come to their senses, so that your great country, which led the world in progress for so long, can once again do so.
Canada's Thanksgiving is in October, but, on this day dedicated to unity and togetherness in the U.S., I wish all Americans peace, both foreign and domestic.
Now enjoy your turkey and beer, eh?
;-)
I also hope my country can return to its former greatness (and even moreso), thank you, but I fear that the damage is very severe, very deep, and fostered by continuous lies, which many people still have not shaken out of their heads. In short, we are in for a long, hard pull, and I doubt that we will be able to accomplish what needs to be done at the ballot box. The people that have put us in this situation are still in control of our country and economy, and they are not going to go away politely.
Peace -
We are, and I guess always will be-- 'a work in progress.'
It's become an uphill battle, but certainly a battle worth pursuing.
Glad to have support from Canada.... never know when that could come in handy....
