They have an agenda, and THE WELL BEING OF THE COUNTRY IS INCIDENTAL, since EXPERIENCE and COMPETENCE DON'T MAKE GOOD COPY...
Consequently, they've created our de facto front-runners out of:
> An ambitious woman who, altho' undoubtedly smart, is NOT the most qualified for the job...Who counts her years as first lady as "experience", when in fact it amounted to essentialy being a full-time in-house intern...
> An young, ambitious minority male who, altho' undoubtedly smart, is NOT the most qualified for the job, and, in fact, is the LEAST qualified for the job... His statement that he thinks he has the qualifications for the job that needs to be done now" DOESN'T MAKE IT SO. Is a gifted junior professor qualified to be chancellor of a large University...OF COURSE NOT!...
> A bright, nice guy who is essentially Jimmy Carter 30 years later...who had a chance at the WH last time, but who is Not the most qualified for the job...and who also has young children and an ill wife...REALISTICALLY, not the best scenario for such a stressful, critical, and all-encompassing job.
YET ALL MEDIA DISCUSSIONS MENTION ONLY THOSE THREE.
AND THEY VIRTUALLY IGNORE THOSE CANDIDATES WHO ACTUALLY ARE QUALIFIED FOR THE JOB... guys like JOE BIDEN and Chris Dodd, and, to a lesser extent, Bill Richardson.
(White male is SO boring and white bread...
And, again, EXPERIENCE and COMPETENCE DOESN'T MAKE GOOD COPY...)
BUT there are two REALITIES that somehow have to be made clear to the voting public:
1)Having the QUALITIES of a President IS NOT THE SAME as having the QUALIFICATIONS to BE PRESIDENT...That distinction is critical!!!
AND
2) EXPERIENCE = CHANGE.
The last several Presidents have been Washington OUTSIDERS who, with their staffs, had NO ESTABLISHED RAPPORT with the Senate or House...The last thing we need now is another batch of "newbies".
EXPERIENCE COUNTS.
"I'm sidin' with BIDEN...Y not U 2?"
BIDEN/Richardson...Great in '08"
Why should the Democratic party be run and owned by the same corporartions that own the Republican party, rather then the American people owning the paries?
And if you cannot comprehend my question than perhaps you could answer this on: When will the corporations that have corrupted representational democracy have to follow the same laws and face the same consequences as American citizens who corrupt officials and break laws?
DON'T SETTLE FOR LESS!!!
I might come back later!
keep blogging!
And the right person to lead that debate is none other that Albert Gore.
WHICH WAY DEMOCRATS!!!????
I say
GORE/RICHARDSON 2008!
Hang around, find your way and it's easy!
I don't have time to hang out alot.
but I do like to come back and see if anyone replied to something I wrote. that is hard here.
it's hard to come back. so what kid of chat is this? a live chat? or people send in questions and we listen live? 7 pm?
the Party of American Populism. Anything less, is rethug-lite!!
never forget, the blame for Bush in 2000 lies not with the GOp voters who elected him; at least they stood by their convictions. Th ereal blood is on the hands of every so-called progressive who voted for Bush's proxy Nader. Those Nader-Bush voters can't even hide behind some fake principles.
Firstly: WHY do the democratic party persist in transforming democratic policies into 'thatcherism' when such policies clearly came to be seen as the wrong policies for the now-present and near future ? [political whore-dom has replaced visionary leadership, catering to the daily stock-market-driven whims and fancies of the financial community which switche horses midstream daily ... 'playing' the bend-the-rules-to-personal-advantage game as was done at Enron et al., et al. today ... without a care for the consequences of 'immediate gratification' mindsets and the utter lack of broad, big picture understanding and the contempt for the work of creating a realistic strategic plan for the nation [20-year vision] and writing/project managing a tactical plan to turn the USA away from the precipice over which the politicization policies of BOTH parties are pushing and pulling the USA, manipulating popular opinion into believing it is simply a roller-coaster ride and the fall to the bottom won't hurt because the USA will simply bounce back up from the impact.
Secondly, WHY do the Blanche Lincoln [US Senate} democrats have no voice when it is they who have all the clarity of the people's needs ?
The USA was formed to SERVE THE NEEDS OF THE INDIVIDUAL CITIZENS, ALL CITIZENS EQUALLY. Which candidate will hold US Government feet to the fire, demand complete, immediate compliance with the US Constitution, thereby compelling the US and State governments to do the right thing for the nation by doing the right things for all the individual US citizens equally ?
that would be Dennis.
But I know I am deluding myself because the attention span of the average American is to damn short to go beyond the 10 second soundbite.
Not a chance.
The Democratic Party is the new Republican Party.
The neocons have just shifted to the next probable winner. MSNBC and Ron Paul is the way to go.
The right wing nuts had their chance and thanks to all the pandering to them, have blown their chances of ever fulfilling their religious-fascist designs on this Country
Same goes for the Nader-Socialists. They think they have a chance in 2008, just like they thought they had a chance in 2000! IF the elections were not rigged and Nader had not spoilt Al Gore's chances, the last 6-7 years would have been far better ... and that's an understatement!
The 2006 elections were won in the middle and so will be the 2008 elections. The American People are tired of the far extemist politics and the perpetual polarization of this Country. 2000 was as explained above and so was 2006. 2004 was a weak Democratic candidate, who just could not fight back
Let the DCCC/DLC do their work and get behind a fighter like Hillary and 2008 will be ALL Democrats!!!
Complacency, condescension, perpetuation of the status quo, or some mixture thereof?
