The Senate and the House continue their fandango over the bailout.. They calculate buy-backs of mortage-backed securities, number of failed banks, executive compensation, the drop in the Dow and the S&P, votes and constitutent complaints..
And still, somehow, they believe they will reach a 'bi-partisan solution'. Today.
What is not lost on me is this:
Today is October 1, the first day Republicans could launch their October surprise.
Today, early voting began in Ohio, an important battleground state.
Today the Congress may settle.
And when they do, today, as he has done many days since last week, will co-opt Obama's ideas, publicly go out with them, and take credit for all of it.
And it occurs to me -- maybe this whole bailout thing is a creation of the Republican party. And maybe the no-vote from House Republicans was a stall until today, in order that McCain could appear competent.
Maybe I'm just paranoid. But if there's a kernel of truth in this, would it not be the most calculating thing of all?
Or maybe I'm going crazy from IFPS (Irrational Fear of Palin Syndrome). I wonder -- does Prada make a strait jacket?
