Alan is also a trustee of the British Institute of Human Rights, Centrepoint and Kaleidoscope. His background is in government affairs and at the NSPCC he leads on the charity’s lobbying and influencing work with key political audiences.

He previously worked at the Local Government Association and Stonewall. Prior to this Alan was in the civil service, in various policy, finance and private office roles in the Department for Work and Pensions. He studied law at the universities of Glasgow and Cambridge, and qualified as a solicitor.
