Alex Gronke co-founded OakBook in Oakland, Calif. to prove a new model of local journalism in a time of change for the news industry. Before launching OakBook he was a senior editor at Red Herring where he covered the birth of Web 2.0 from Silicon Valley, Israel and Mexico. He has also reported on California politics for Reuters, the Los Angeles Times, and the California Journal. In 2005 he won a California Newspaper Publishers Association award for enterprise reporting. He is a frequent contributor to the Maynard Institute.
