Prof. Alice Bean is an experimental particle physicist at the University of Kansas. She is a member of the CMS collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider at the CERN laboratory near Geneva, Switzerland. With her research she gets undergraduate students to help study detectors made of silicon which helped to discover the Higgs boson. She believes in exciting kids and people of all ages about particle physics and created the “Quarked! Adventures in the Subatomic Universe project” with the website www.quarked.org. She is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
