Currently serving as Co-Chair for The Youth Assembly at the United Nations, Ana Maria Lebada is a social marketing strategist with experience in sales and organizational communications and dedicated to youth empowerement. She is also a Master of Arts candidate in Sociocultural Anthropology at Columbia University, where she is writing her thesis on (youth) activism, sustainable development, and (social) media.
During her undergraduate studies, Ana Maria took part in several international projects on sustainable development, advertising, and intercultural communication (in Belgium, The Netherlands, France, and Turkey). In 2008, she won – together with her team – the bronze medal in the Institutional Communications section of the national contest “The Communications Olympics” for a campaign against corruption created for the Romanian Ministry of Administration and Interior. The same year, she won an advertising school in Bucharest and was sponsored by Tempo Advertising to participate in the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. At Columbia, Ana Maria served as Communications Director of the Columbia University Coalition for Sustainable Development and as Associate Director of Marketing for The Columbia University Earth Summit 2013, and organized two high level private conferences on marketing and branding together with Professor Donald Sexton, Faculty Director of the Columbia Business School.
