Ani Zonneveld Imam; Founder and President, Muslims for Progressive Values

Ani Zonneveld, a native of Malaysia, is an imam and founder and president of Muslims for Progressive Values (MPV). She is the co-chief editor of the anthology Progressive Muslim Identities-Personal Stories from the U.S. and Canada, a contributor to the anthology American Dreamers, al-Jazeera, The WorldPost and Huffington Post, Open Democracy and the executive producer of the lecture series “LGBTQ Rights in Islam.” She is on Planned Parenthood’s Clergy Advocacy Board, a strong supporter of women and LGBTQ rights, for freedom of expression and for freedom of and from belief. As head of the progressive community and an imam, Ani performs Islamic wedding services for mixed faith and gay couples. As a songwriter/producer, she has won many awards including a Grammy certification for her song contribution to Keb’ Mo’s album, “Keep It Simple” and is the creator of Islamic Hymns, worship songs for English-speaking Muslims.
