Ann Yee Fashion designer

Ann Yee is an American designer living and working in New York City. Originally from South Lyon Michigan, Ann Yee apprenticed with American designer Jill Stuart and, in London, with acclaimed independent designer Ebru Ercon while receiving her B.S. in Fashion Design from Philadelphia University. Yee moved to New York to design knitwear for prestigious labels such as Barneys, LaROK, Elizabeth and James, Alice + Olivia and played an integral role in the launch of contemporary knitwear label, DUFFY. Working with knits only bolstered her innate understanding of the constitution of fabric and the subtle art of draping.

In 2010, Yee launched her own eponymous label, ANN YEE. Well known for its refined nonchalance, play on proportion, androgyny, textured fabrications and novelty knitwear, the ANN YEE brand is a visually provocative women’s wear ready-to-wear line. A seamless blend of sophistication with the perfect amount of downtown New York edge, ANN YEE’s signature style is an architectural mix of proportion and architectural shapes that plays with volume and the pairing of soft with harder edges.

The interplay of unexpected color combinations, exaggerated shapes and innovative silhouettes, luxurious fabrics and sumptuous knitwear are just a few of the signature elements that come to be expected each season from this inventive brand. Yee urges her consumers to transcend the conventional boundaries and limitations of everyday dressing with customizable pieces that can be carried from day to night and through her strong advocacy on the art of layering.

The ANN YEE woman is a risk taker with an eclectic sense of style. She has her finger on the pulse of what’s current and expresses herself through her blended wardrobe of contemporary and vintage fashion. She thrives in a metropolitan environment and is always on the go. She looks for fashion that is cutting-edge while exuding timelessness and versatility.
