Arturo Lopez Levy is a Lecturer at the University of Texas- Rio Grande Valley. Lopez Levy has taught different courses about American politics, Comparative Politics, Problems of International Relations, and Latin American Politics at the University of Denver, the University of Colorado in Boulder and the Colorado School of Mines.
He is a consultant for the New America foundation and the Inter-American Dialogue about Cuba and American policy towards Latin America. In Cuba, before his emigration to the United States, in 2001, Lopez Levy worked as political analyst for the Cuban government between 1992 and 1994, when he resigned his position. Between 1999 and 2001, Lopez Levy was Secretary of the Bnai- Brith lodge of the Cuban Jewish Community. His doctoral dissertation discusses political liberalization in dominant party regimes through a comparative study of Taiwan and Mexico under the KMT and the PRI.
