Ben became a reporter with Scholastic News in seventh grade, interviewing senators and congressmen for the 2004 Presidential Election. He grew up in the same literary neighborhood of St. Louis Park, Minnesota that gave us Al Franken, the Cohen Brothers, Thomas Friedman and the musician Peter Himmelman.
Opting for an alternative route, Ben graduated from high school with a G.E.D. and went on to Columbia College in Chicago studying film directing. After his freshman year at Columbia, he traveled to Paris, France working as an Au Pair for the year. He returned to the States to work in New York City on the set of David Mamet's current HBO film about Phil Spector. Ben continues to write in Minneapolis pursuing a literary career.
