Brian Shott is a freelance writer and editor currently living in Oakland, Calif. He has written and edited for many Bay Area publications and websites, including the Tenderloin Times, the San Francisco Independent, Mother Jones magazine, TechTV and NBC Internet. More recently, he worked for New America Media (NAM) for six years, where he was a lead editor for the organization's newswire. He has interviewed politicians and authors for NAM's radio program on KALW 91.7-FM in San Francisco, and his commentaries have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and other large and small newspapers nationwide. Shott grew up in Kentucky, went to college in Connecticut and has called California home since 1991.
