Curtis Valentine At-Large, School Board Member

Curtis Valentine lives the ideal, “Think Globally, Act Locally.” Curtis is currently an At-Large Member of the Prince George's County (MD) Board of Education.The former Executive Director of MarylandCAN: The Maryland Campaign for Achievement Now, Curtis continues to advocate for education reform as a parent to two public school students at the district, state, and national levels.
A graduate of Morehouse College and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Curtis served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in South Africa and spent nearly 10yrs working in international development with World Vision, USAID, and Africare. A seasoned community organizer, Curtis served as Regional Field Director with the 2008 Obama Campaign and subsequently with Organizing for America.
Curtis is a recipient of the Kennedy School’s highest honor, the Robert Kennedy Award for Public Service and was later chosen as Scholar Fellow for the 2010 Aspen Ideas Festival. In 2013, Curtis was awarded an International Affairs Fellow (IAF) with the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).
