Darcy Gilmore

Celebrity Makeup Artist in Los Angeles, CA

Darcy Gilmore has been busy for the last 17 years building a clientele and reputation for her specialty in beauty makeup for A-listers including: Arianna Huffington, Ricki Lake, Carrie Fisher, Dave Navarro, Lisa Ling, Paula Abdul. Jenny McCarthy, Michael Michelle, Fergi, Giada De Laurentiis, Marla Maples, Jeff Foxworthy, Cheryl Tiegs, Brooke Burke, Twiggy and Kristen Cavallari.

She made her start as a retail consultant with Yves Saint Laurent Beaute where she learned the art of imaging, taking the visual concept of a company and recreating it in the application of makeup on the client. Translating her artistry for TV, Film, and Print, perfecting her ability to address “fixes” that would arise on camera. Working alongside notable professionals, she quickly developed a reputation for being skilled and reliable. It wasn’t long before word-of-mouth referrals opened the door to opportunities with high profile clients and several primetime network TV shows.

It was in 1996 where one of her first jobs at NBC Network News, established a now long lasting relationship with Arianna Huffington that has allowed her to work on many high profile magazines such as British Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, Time, and Newsweek all as a personal request of Ms. Huffington. For FHM, Stuff Magazine, and Capital Records she has been requested to work with rock legend Dave Navarro personally and his band Panic Channel. Tapping into her time working with Cloutier Agency as an assistant, Ms. Gilmore learned from the best by assisting the top artists on board.

In June 2005- 2006, Ms. Gilmore was the makeup expert on ABC's hit show Extreme Makeover as part of the Extreme Team and many other makeover themed shows on Style Network, TLC, Soap Talk, Lifetime, Fox, and WE Networks. Finally working for E! Networks Red Carpet Live Countdown to the Academy Awards 2009 also as a makeup expert.

Ms. Gilmore spends many of her days working on Prime Time television shows as the Department Head for Mark Burnett Game Shows Inc. and the payoff having four prime time shows, all airing the same week on FOX, ABC and CNN.

Ms. Gilmore says her philosophy is that there are no true makeup rules. She explains, “Some people are tied to what they know or what they have been told as the correct way to do an application. You have to get creative at times. And if you’re open, a new idea or invention can be created as a result of necessity.” Additionally, for many women their makeup look has remained the same as it was when they felt best about themselves, and they don’t realize they can take years off just by seeing themselves through someone else’s vision. Often she is there for a total client consultation including: makeup, hair, and pulling a style together with wardrobe.
