David Sorge is a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania, in the department of sociology. He was born in Evansville, Indiana, and still calls that home, but spent most of his life in South Asia, in the Maldives and India. He graduated from Rice University with a B.A. in Linguistics and Asian Studies. He speaks Maldivian (Dhivehi), German, Hindi, and a little Arabic. At Rice, he co-founded and led the Rice Interfaith Dialogue Association, and developed a passion for facilitating cross-cultural communication. After graduating, he spent a year in India after graduating studying conflict resolution in the cities of Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. He plans to conduct research on the social dynamics of inter-group conflict and conflict resolution, with particular reference to inter-group relations in India.
