Dawn is the Executive Director of the Foster Children's Rights Coalition, which brings together social workers, child lawyers, mental health professionals, foster parents, and other advocates to work for the rights of foster children.

Dawn started blogging for Huffington Post mid 2008 when she covered Arizona elections throughout the primaries and the general election. She also traveled to Denver for HuffPost to cover the 2008 Democratic National Convention. As the HuffPost Arizona Politics Reporter, Dawn provided reliable outside-the-beltway political coverage with particular focus on Arizona politics as well as the Tea Party movement. Dawn was also the Editor for hyper-local newspaper Gateway Reporter, which covered the San Tan Valley and Queen Creek communities in Arizona. Dawn has been involved in academic research in the areas of psychology, politics, and public opinion.

Dawn spent fifteen years in corporate management and more than a decade working in pubic advocacy. Dawn worked as the Public Relations Director for a national advocacy campaign campaign, leading a 2004 tour across battleground states to increase awareness of economic justice issues. Dawn spent a decade consulting with nonprofits, helping them implement web advocacy programs and achieve strategic communications objectives.

Dawn was raised in the hills of Tennessee and has since lived all over the country. She and her husband currently reside in Arizona. They are small business owners and run a small manufacturing facility where every product is made in the USA.
