Dawn Turner is the chief operating officer of the Los Angeles County Educational Foundation (LACEF). Serving at a pivotal moment in the organization’s history, Ms. Turner came on board in 2011, during a time of growth, repurposing, and renewal at LACEF. In less than a year, Ms. Turner has implemented best practices that have already enhanced the profile and purview of LACEF on a regional level.

In addition to years of experience working on behalf of other non-profits and charities, Ms. Turner brings a vast knowledge of finance and business management to LACEF. Having worked 14 years as an investment banker, she has provided a variety of services to public entities and 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in the funding of their capital programs. She has worked on behalf of municipalities, originating and completing municipal bond transactions in excess of $30 billion. Ms. Turner also has extensive experience in financial modeling, debt restructuring, and credit analysis.

Ms. Turner lives in Inglewood, California, and has dedicated much of her personal life to service. She supports the Magic Johnson Foundation, United Way, and the March of Dimes. She has also served as the Chair of the Mentoring Committee for the National Sales Network in Los Angeles (NSNLA), where she facilitated programs with Crenshaw High School and The Optimist Youth Home. Dawn graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Economics from Saint Louis University and a M.B.A. in Global Studies from Pepperdine University. She continues her involvement at Pepperdine as a founding board member (as well as incoming Treasurer) on the Black Alumni Council.
