Born and raised in Queens, New York, writer, actor, producer, director, and musician Donn Swaby graduated from the Boston University School of Theatre Arts with a BFA in acting. While at B.U. he wrote poetry, short stories, and two one act plays which were both given workshop productions in the B.U. Playwrights’ Festival.
Mr. Swaby has worked extensively in television, film, and theatre, most notably as the original Chad Harris, (formerly) on NBC’s soap opera, Passions. His last film, Nora’s Hair Salon II, will be out on DVD this fall/winter.
He has written five screenplays: Last Call, Sound of Light (both had staged readings in New York,) the soon to be released Buds for Life, Mr. Independent, and Over my Head.
He made his directorial debut with the Sam Sheppard play Fool for Love (which he also co-produced) in Los Angeles, California, where he currently resides. He wrote, produced, directed, and acted in a collection of short plays encased as a one act play, Lost and Found. He then adapted the short play Wedding for the screen and co-produced it (now in post-production).
For five years he has written the What’s Cool L.A. page for the alternative women’s magazine, Melt. He currently plays guitar for up and coming neo-soul singer Brig Feltus. For more detailed information on Mr. Swaby’s career go to www.donnswaby.com .
