Eli Marmar

Freewaters Co-founder

Growing up in the natural beauty of Marin County with its close proximity to San Francisco, it’s no wonder the Freewaters Brand Director and Co-founder Eli Marmar has the company ethos flowing through his veins.

Keeping his education and waves as a priority on his list for choosing schools, Marmar found himself at UCSB then Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design for a staple diet of industrial design. The grueling curriculum was balanced by early morning surf sessions with friend and Freewaters co-founder Martin Kim.

In 2000, Northern California called him home, where Marmar spent the next eight years pushing the limits of wetsuit design as Senior Designer for O’Neill in Santa Cruz. He then spent eighteen months at O’Neill’s global headquarters in The Netherlands as Product Brand Manager where he helped redirect apparel design teams back towards the brand’s Northern California roots. While there, Marmar spearheaded the design direction of the first Hyperfreak boardshort.

You can find Marmar in the San Francisco Bay area living and breathing Freewaters and hanging out with his wife Yael, son Noah and dog Kobe.
