Gail is a writer, editor and photographer who founded chickfactor magazine in 1992 with her friend Pam Berry. She was the Music Editor at Time Out New York from 1996 to 2000. She wrote a pop music column for the Times of London as well. An early TMFs champion, she has set up many shows around the world featuring Merritt & Co. live (at chickfactor parties) and has taken thousands of photos of the Magnetic Fields, Gothic Archies, the 6ths, Future Bible Heroes and the Three Terrors (her images were used on 69 Love Songs, Wasps’ Nests, and others). She assigned Stephin and Claudia to write for chickfactor magazine (the official TMFs zine) and Time Out New York. (She is also on the cover of “Get Lost”).
Her photos have appeared in the New York Times, the London Times, the Washington Post, the Washington City Paper, Time Out, Time Out NY, CMJ, the Village Voice, Magnet, LGNY, Pulse, Rockpile, HX, Billboard and several books: Our Noise: The Story of Merge Records and 69 Love Songs: A Field Guide. She currently works for the filmmaker Lance Bangs.
